Going to be great year in Nebraska, Wyoming, Missouri, Oklahoma and Texas for me. Kansas and Colorado are a bit challenged right now with rain. Good to have choices.

Western Co is getting rain and had a mild winter. Snow melt won't be good for reservoir levels, but deer are looking good.

I'd rather it flood on winter range than snow though. Need the basin to be mild and wet for the next cpl years.

Lots of spots in Colorado are looking good, just not the spot I have private access to. And, there has been some late season snows that help fill the lakes. However, the runoff to the lakes does very little for the prairies. Most of the lakes in Central to north east Colorado have been pretty full for the last couple years due to the flood we had. We are getting some rain right now as I type, so hopefully it can continue for a couple years to get the Mule deer in good shape.

I was spraying a fenceline today and was surprised at all the new browse plants that are coming up. Hated to spray them but need to repair that fenceline. Still a lot of spring forb growth also as the cool season plants have made seed and died off now. Deer are still not hitting protein much at all but hitting Lab Lab and Soybeans over the past week now. All the browse here had new growth. Still looks good here.

It had taken a hit for several years and started coming up again last year. It was dry a cpl miles out from the 149 bridge at the headwaters '11 & '12.

Haven't seen that lake in a while, sure a beautiful place. Lived not to far away and never dropped a hook in it

GOOD LAWD Rifleman!! I would have never believed it, OMG, bet the awesome fishing I always heard a bout, went down the drain. Now that puts the drought there in perspective well. Used to drive hwy50 to crested butte many times delivering metal artwork and always enjoyed the drive, but that would have been disheartening.

It was, unless you enjoyed fly fishing...that made a lot more opportunity to go chunk a fly in the main channel.

Im excited about it too. Hope you don't hunt over corn, because there will be so many acorns in the big woods that the deer will snuff that yellow nugget. Im glad. Im not glad about having to carry a tennis racket to kill the juiced up skeeters.

We had so many acorns last year not sure it will be much different this year. Deer still love corn eventually. Have to stick it out. Got my buck after Christmas though I can't say he was coming to corn.

I killed my first buck under a feeder in Llano about 28 years ago and haven't killed one under a feeder since. Just sayin, but I have killed about 85 bucks hunting off the ground without bait. I hate to see deer so dependent on it. I like a natural setting to hunt over. Ive killed 2 does too, does that count? I save those for baby makin and meat hunters, but I do eat the bucks too. I give the real old ones away to a friend. Kinda musky and tuff. I gave him a buck that was about 9 years old and the other day he commented about how tuff the meat was. Back on the rain subject. I have noticed a slight difference in antler quality because of rain fall over the years, but overall body health is probably noticed more by the deer itself. I know when I eat good I feel better too.
