Now that the season is over and we have little to talk about, I am curious where you dogs "live." I have three labs at my house and "in the house" is not an option for my wife. They stay outside 100% of the time.

Mine are always inside, but they're pets, not hunting dogs. And boxers are sort of thin-skinned. they dont deal to well with cold weather.

I have a lab and a mutt both are inside dogs. My wife said when I got my lab it was not fair to her if the other dog got to live inside and she did not so that is how come my lab is a house dog.

x2

Always sleeps outside unless we expect temps near freezing and then in her crate by the back door.

My dog stays outside (my choice) except when temps get down around freezing (stays in kennel inside). I'm getting a puppy Saturday so he'll stay inside until he's old enough to stay outside.

Pup has been staying in crate during the day, bout to get put in the kennel in the next week or two, ace stays in the kennel for the most part. He will come in sometimes since he is so well behaved in the house.

my pup stays outside unless its down around freezing, then its in the crate in our bedroom, we have a little sheltie too, so if she's inside she's on the bed.

My 14 year old lab has earned the right to sleep in the garage now.

Jake usually stays in the house. Sometimes in the spring and fall he gets to stay outside all night. But, he's usually curled up by my feet under my desk while I work. Just like he is right now.

Inside and never crated. Always at someones side. ALWAYS. But Vizslas are known for that.

I am going to have to show this survey to my wife, pointing to what can only be described as undeniable evidence of her cold, cruel heart!

Mine get to sleep inside when it's cold out like tonight. The gas that comes from my male though is what makes them mostly outside dogs.

Don't have a dog anymore, but when Sierra was still with us, she stayed inside.

Both the wife and I want our dog to be apart of the family, so no matter what we get, it will be inside.

My dog loves her crate, that is her indoor dog house. Only lock her in when no one is in the house. They sleep all day anyways, that just keeps them from eating something they shouldn't.

I used to keep my dog outside in her dog house on nights before a hunt when it was cold, used to think that would help her get use to the cold, but it is not need, she does fine in the cold even after sleeping in doors all night.

Paxton stays in our bedroom when we aren't here. But, she's never been one to get into things.

Miley is a year old and she is the first house dog we have ever owned. She sleeps in my son's bed. I never dreamed in a million years I'd let a dog stay in the house but this one is just like one of our children. My wife refers to her as our 3rd child.
When we got her we didn't have fence around the back yard yet so she had to stay in the house for about 6 weeks until we could afford to get one built. I spent $4200.00 on a black chain link fence for her in my back yard and she's hardly ever been back there. If you ever considered getting a house dog and have never had one, a yellow lab is definately the way to fly. They aren't perfect, we still had to deal with chewing and potty training, but these dogs are about as good as it gets.
