Hah.....good one Brian! Hog was running a 'death circle'....but definitely needed some more lead in him. You did well. And I wouldn't say there was any 'panic' shooting. Lets just think of it as a crescendo. The absence of any girl like screams....tells me you kept your cool (well enough). Good job, GREAT video! Flint.

Well, I appreciate the kind words. There was a lot wanting in that total event, but the bottom line is that I went home safe, the hog died fairly quickly, and I didn't screw up the video. As for screaming, I just do it at a frequency only dogs and porpoises can hear.

Did you edit out the cussing, or are you a better man than me? I would have said a few things that would get me banned on this site.

bigjoe, no cussing, not until I had to start dragging that sucker to a spot dry enough for my truck to reach so that I could haul it out. I recently had to drag a 200 lb hog a good distance and that wasn't fun, but 250 on soft, muddy ground was darned near impossible. Fortunately, I only had to drag him about 20 yards.

I see a Surefire tactical light AND a Laser pointer in your future, or some sort of 2nd-ary up-close sighting.... - you surely have 'room on the rails' . . .
and maybe a bayonet !!! (for night-time hogging)?
Thanks for showing this - gives me pause to prepare for the possibility as well! Glad it turned out well.

WOW! Watched the video several times, very exciting! I've been using 10 rnd mags during my night hunts to save on weight and trying to keep things compact and snag free. Definitely going to rethink that lol.. Reminds me of about a year ago, sitting under a tree around a stock tank just about an hour before sundown.. Big ol' sow comes to drink about 30 yrds away.... shot..., she turned and ran straight at me... closed on me FAST.. by the time I could get another round in her, she skidded to a stop about 10 feet from my feet... didn't have time to panic until after lmao... here she is... Thanks for sharing the video, one of my all time favs!

Yeah, things happen and happen fast, especially when they happen in real time and in real life. On video, it looks easy and in slow motion, it looks really easy.
I think part of the reason things seem to happen so fast is that in real time/real life, there is a certain amount of delay (OODA Loop for those of you who do tactical stuff or know jet fighter theory) because realization sets in as to the gravity of the situation and then mustering a response.
Nice sow, ccreyeder!

You can buy fresh underwear from Walmart in the middle of the night, in case anyone was wondering. Good to know ... As for me, two things I always carry in the truck: 1) Toilet Paper 2) Spare Underwear & Socks However, my thinking to date has been only that I might get stuck somewhere and have to spend a night in unplanned circumstances. Panic Shooting? No, I'd just call it throwing a little extra lead downrange as an insurance policy. Well, maybe as a precursor to panic ... Panic is when you throw the rifle down and start running like the wind. Nice video, thanks !!
I have two unwritten rules: 1. 2.

My favorite scene from Brian's movie - the beast looks hungry! Yeah, the hog looks pretty serious in that freeze frame. You'll note that DNS gave the hog a chance to break off the encounter...by first firing a warning shot to the penis (see cross-hairs). If a hog doesn't heed that...then its 'No More Mr. Nice Guy'!
