Has anybody taken or heard of anybody taking a turkey from the Ladonia unit of the Caddo National Grasslands?

Much of it looks like good turkey land but a lot of it looked like it would be good for quail as well, but we didn't find a single bird last weekend.

Don't know about Ladonia but I've seen many a tracks a few years ago in the other unit. It used to be a drawing hunt but now is not. I'm guessing the population is doing pretty good there. Hope to be going to do some scouting along with some tree rat hunting or yote hunting with my new elec. call I bought.

I have lived here for 26 years and have never ever seen a turkey in Fannin County except on a bird hunting ranch north of honey grove....I thought I heard some once up around the lakes, but never saw one.

I think there could be a few up there. I know I saw in the papers a few years ago they were trying to bring in some and get them re-established...have a friend who claims to have seen some there a few years ago, but not at the Ladonia unit.

The turkey in Fannin County live with THE BLACK PANTHERS. If you find the panther the Big Toms aren't far away. I think people get the Public land in Fannin County mixed up with some over around Decatur. If you go to callin up here in Fannin county you'll have all the coffee shops buzzin about the group of long beards they heard.
