Don't get mounts! Hire a camera man to film your hunt -- much cheaper!

Curious how often you watch a video of your hunt once you get back? I have several video tapes of different hunts that are stored in a box somewhere that I doubt I'll ever look at. Just like having a video of your wedding. You look at it right after the wedding, then never again. I love seeing my mounts every day. They remind me of the adventure, the fun, but mostly they are just beautiful to look at. I don't even understand skull mounts. Seeing the colors in their face is such a huge part of what makes them so amazing to look at.

I always get my animals mounted if they are "big" enough or if its an exotic I don't already have. That said, being a video guy, I love watching videos of my hunts. Everything is online now, so I do it from my computer most of the time. Theres no need to put a tape or DVD in anymore, I can watch youtube from my TV even. Its amazing how many memories you lose over the years and how details get fuzzier. I won't say I barely remember my first trip to Africa 17 years ago, but the details are definitely fuzzy. I was 15 years old. I would give anything to have a video recapping that experience with my grandfather.

Euro mounts have their place IMO. I think they are kind of cool and unique. I have a few whitetails euro mounted. They recall the memories fine.
