I have a model 190 20 gauge it was my first gun I got when I was 4 years old. I have had the tought of since it is a bolt gun swappin out the barrel to a rifled slug barrel. Does anyone know if I can just buy a mossberg slug barrel to put in it or would it be some kind of goose chase to find one that would thread right? thank you I am a greenhorn and figured it would be a nice project to start because it is special to me.
I eat everything I kill and I am to fat to be a bad hunter.

It can be done, but to my mind it would be prohibitively expensive as the barrel would have to be custom-made, and finding a smith to do the work might also be a problem. Not many know how to work on those guns.
Kind regards, charlesb

Maybe be getter to cut the barrel to 20"-22", have sights or scope mount installed and shoot fosters.
It ain't easy being me.

So I take it I can not use a slug barrel out of another mossberg bolt action slug gun to put in?

If so would it be possible to have it rechambered to 3 inch instead of 2 and 3/4?

So I take it I can not use a slug barrel out of another mossberg bolt action slug gun to put in? If it's a mossberg 190 slug gun, then yes, you should be able to pretty easily swap the barrels. I just don't know if they made a 190 slug gun especially in 20ga.

No its not a slug gun, it had a normal 20 gauge barrel with a a C-lect choke I meant if you could find a 190 slug barrel. It's pretty unlikely a barrel from another model would fit it. Your best bet is to either shoot regular slugs out of the gun you have now, or sell it and buy a slug gun.

Another opinion. The mossberg is a nice ole shotgun and can be used with foster slugs out to 75 yards or so. Its approximate value is $100-$150. If you cut it or modify it or spend $100-$150 to modernize it, it is still a $100-$150 shotgun.
You would be better to keep it for your kid when he gets old enough and buy a slug gun. A H & R slug gun is about $250 with a rifled barrel to shoot sabot slugs out to 150 yards or so.
I like the old bolt action shotguns but you are better to leave it be and buy a new slug gun. There, a reason to buy a new gun.

True lol I have no intention of ever selling it I just figured it would be a nice thing to make it a little more useful to me since I don't have a slug gun
