One of my buddies called me today with an opportunity to shoot a blackbuck. I was told it would be in the 20"-22" range for $400. I don't know to much about prices on exotics is this a good deal.

That sounds like one of those too good to be true deals or the person selling it has been living in the dark.

Is that a good deal? Are you kidding me? Yes, that is a hell of deal. A good enough deal to the tune that you could go buy a good used dart gun(or borrow one), 1 package of darts, drugs to knock it down, get the animal darted, live sale it to another ranch, and then have enough left over to go back to hunt another one for yourself and pay for your gas as well. And you would still have money left over to take the wife or girlfriend or whatever out for dinner.

Or to put it another way, I sell hunts for blackbucks that are 20" for $1950 and have no trouble selling it at that price. Some ranches are $500 higher than that, some a few hundred dollars cheaper.

My buddy was doing some bartering with the guy and he said he would sale me the hunt because he would rather have the money If your buddy is telling you that, to me it doesn't make sense when its easily worth so much more. I could just about guarantee you that if you posted a picture of it on here and it is what you say it is, even on the low end...say $1200 which is 3x what he is asking...you would sell that in less than 24 hrs.

Get a picture...you sell it for him....if it is what you say it is, it will sell. Then you guys just split the profit.

A male yearling is going to cost you more than $400.

Had a yearling male come to the feeder the other day. I'm in a thicker area of the lease and we don't normally see them there. Cute little fart.

If it is for 400 I would hop on that quicker then a hot jackrabbit in a cool burrow. Blackbuck like all the exotics have gone up price wise a few years ago due to the oil field but with oil prices falling down through the roof, hopefully prices will go down again *has fingers crossed for the days when BIG axis bucks were 2K*

Kobus, what does the price of oil have to do with it, not trolling, really interested.

Not Kobus but I can answer. One of the drivers in the exotic business is demand for hunts paid for as entertaiment by entities in the oil and gas industry. With the price of oil falling those dollars will become scarcer reducing demand.
for every stereotype there's a prototype don't be the prototype
