Got one of these for Christmas and have been very impressed with it. Keeps the Egg cleaner, lights faster, burns hotter, etc... Before a cook, just shake the ash in a trash can vs. stirring it and having it fall to the bottom of the Egg. I've got nothing invested in this thing, just sharing a pretty cool accessory I found. I know there are a lot of Egg owners on here. http://www.kickashbasket.com/

Great, simple idea. I pre-shake and sort my charcoal before putting it in the smoker too. This would even be a good tool for that.

While we are talking coal, what bag do you prefer? Seems like the chunks are smaller these days. I usually grab the green oak bag at HEB.

I use Royal Oak. They sell it at Home Depot. Walmart used to have it but I haven't seen it there in a while. I haven't found any at HEB that's any good. Or Academy for that matter.
I was told that Royal Oak makes the BGE brand, which is my favorite. Not sure if that's true but it's as close as I've found.

I really hate to do what I am about to do, because it will be very painful for you.

Good find, I stir mine up and then clean out the bottom, another thing to add to the list. As far as lump goes I prefer Ozark Oak.

After almost 2 months of using it now, it's been awesome. Not much ash sitting in the bottom of all. It's staying very clean.
The other real benefit of this thing is that the basket actually has about 1/4" spacing between the wire basket and the ceramic in the egg. That gives air flow. This thing fires up fast now, and fires up fast every time. I'm actually having to relearn it a little bit because if I light it and walk away for 20-30 minutes like I used to, instead of coming back to find it at 400 degrees, I'm finding it at 800+.
So it heats up really fast and stays clean. This has been the best accessory I've found for the Egg yet.

Gumbeaux I see you live in georgetown I recently found this place in Leander called Action Propane, it has just as many If not more eggcessorys as BBQ outfitters on 620 and the cheapest prices on everything across the board that I've seen in a store, online, or Amazon. She carrys Green Egg charcoal and Ozark Oak not sure the BGE price but the Ozark is cheapest I've found as well.

Yeah, I've been in there. Wanda is great. They fill the propane tank at my house and I stop in the store when I'm over there. My kids like to play with her weiner dog.
That kind of sounds nasty...
