Have one 9mm and just picked up another and need to boost my stock. I notice I've got about four different brands in the safe as is and it's been a while since I've picked any up.

Any thoughts on a good, reliable and reasonably priced choice? I'll use for both home defense and target (and I understand those may differ so feel free to expound). Also any thoughts on the different grain sizes and advantages/disadvantages would be welcome.

Appreciate the insight in advance.

Right now I shoot whatever is on the shelf. The last three places I have gone haven't even had ammo. Normally I just shoot whatever brass case ammo is the best price. But for carry guns they all are loaded with federal hydrashok.

YES!

Build your own.

I've never understood why people that don't load still insist on brass ammo. If you don't reload, it doesn't matter. If your gun won't eat Russian aluminum or steel case ammo then it's not reliable enough to save you from anything.

If you don't load for yourself then buy the cheapest crap you can find. Throw the cases in with the Coke cans and recycle them.

If you wanna build up a stock and keep the brass for future use then buy the white box Winnies for about $13 per 50 at Walmart. Blazer brass and Feds are about the same.

Pass the gravy.

You can get Speer lawman or CCi blazer brass off gunbroker for around .20 a round.

Also, I don't know yet how it performs, but Cabelas here in Lubbock had some independence 115 JHP for only $14.99 a box. Damn cheap for JHP ammo.
