I was at the Farm Bureau national convention in San Antonio this past weekend. I was talking to a guy that worked for USDA and he told me that he had just finished a program that is available free of charge to anyone who wants it. They flew the entire state of Texas, every square mile and took aerial photographs. You can zoom down to 1 meter. You can download your county or order the whole thing on CD for just the shipping. It's pretty cool! Click on this link and then click "get data". I was very impressed, you can get photo, topo, infrared, and several other views.

This may have been mentioned before, but I think it's pretty good, and free!

That's pretty good. I've been wanting to find something like that to pin point areas. Thanks!

Gotta put some lead in the air if you're going to get anything!

I'd suggest ordering the discs. We're downloading Taylor County now and it takes forever...

I am not getting that kind of resolution........what am I doing wrong?

Also, 1/3 of my place is unmapped. Is this an on going project?

FYI I just tried to order the state, and it is $50 a cd.

Dozer, mulched, and trackhoe work. Fencelines, senderos, tanks. Let me know if I can help with any dirtwork or construction.

It is still using the same pics from 12 years ago... at least for Fannin Co... we can tell by the stage of construction and where we were then...kinda like looking back into history...

Sure wish they would update the pics...

I think the clarity varies by where you are located... urban areas are much better photos than rural areas... at 32 meters our place is a blur...

According to the guy I talked to they just finished the aierial stuff. I guess it might take 12 years to do that...wouldn't think so though. I wonder if the downloads are more current. According to him it's not satelite, it's actual air plane photos.

I don't know either, but we built the house in 95 and moved in Jan of 96 during the superbowl...literally.... and the driveway isn't complete in the picture. Same pic that was one terraserver for a while now. So where we are I am sure it's Between Aug 95 (begin construction) and Feb 96 (post construction). And we built the range and pool where we got the dirt for the range in summer of 96, and it aint there either...

Maybe they have updated other areas

It must be by area, GBush Tollway is there...don't know how current that it is, but I don't remember GBUsh being there in 96...looks like its just the access roads east of 75 though...

yeah those are OLD pics. from at least 12 years ago. my place is all grown up and in the pics, its still plowed land.

FYI, this technology has been around a while. u can do the same thing with google maps or google earth, and its way faster.

http://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en&tab=wl go here and type in the county and state, or address.

He sold it as "free" and that's exactly what I paid! Just thought it would be recent and extremely detailed. We'll see when the download finishes.
