Looking at buying an AR10 and suppressing it. Any good AR10 platforms under $1500 that would be a good place to start looking? Preferably looking for 16-18" barrel. Not opposed to building myself if I have to.
Also, this will be used for hunting more than anything.
Thanks,
MIKE

I just had a customer purchase an Armalite AR-10 lower for a build. He was also buying a custom upper, and not spending much on it.

X2 the CMMG MK3 CBR model I got mine for $1630 shipped and if you look at the parts list compared to other rifles there is no question. My buddy has bought one now and just got a suppressor for it. TxKiller has shot mine suppress with subs and supers and he is now in the process of getting a suppressor lol think I ruined him.

Subs don't cycle in 308 autos. If you want a suppressed gun to cycle with reliably with subs I'd get a 300blk

Or atleast I can't find a round that cycles. I get the 180gr soft points from chad and they're almost movie quiet but they don't cycle.

It will cycle you'll have to swap out the gas block for an adjustable and maybe swap out the buffer spring. I could be wrong i got cheap posts

These guns are already over gassed suppressed. I'm about to get an adjustable gas block so I can dial it down a bit. A different buffer spring might help.

Palmetto State has been having a lot of sales on AR-10 parts lately. I've built several PSA AR's for customers and never had a problem with their quality. They generally aren't beauty queens, but they've all shot and functioned well.
Old age ain't for sissies!

Anyone have any input on hog and varmint hunting with a 300 and suppressor? Most shots are 200 yards and under, a few get stretched out farther.

I wouldn't hunt with subs anyway unless it's like a 50-75 yard shot to ear hole them. Most bullets won't expand at 1050fps or below.

I have both 308 and 300BLK. Runs subs through them. Have bullets from Outlaw State (300) that will expand and are tough on hogs. But they are $$$$. Have had no luck with cycling 308 subs, seems like too much trouble. They run good through my bolt gun. I sub hunt out to 100 for hogs and coons. Don't really do it for deer. Can get out to about 125-150 for small game or coyotes. Would not be good idea past 100 for bigger game.
I love my 300BLK but if running it at super sonic speeds there are many many better choices.

So I guess my last questions for everyone would be this, what do yall see as the advantages to hunting with the suppressors and super sonic ammo? If you had it to do over again would you a) spend a little more on a nicer AR and not buy the suppressor or b) spend the money on the AR and suppressor?
I'm just wondering now if I will regret spending the cash on the suppressor since it will mostly be used for hunting and very little target shooting.

Subs are fun to shoot to wow your friends how quiet it is but that's about it. From my point of view they're a novelty. There are some bullets out there that will expand and at 50 yards they would probably be good, but I don't hunt over a feeder so they're really no use to me.
I wouldn't do anything different have a 30cal suppressor and a 5.56/22lr suppressor about to probably buy a 40cal suppressor. Once you go suppressed you'll never want to shoot a loud gun again. Was out hunting the other night and I shot at a few hogs suppressed and then killer shot at a bobcat with an unsuppressed 308 holy crap I remember why I bought a suppressor haha. It isn't as quiet as a movie, but it is hearing safe and all you hear is the sonic crack no boom or concussion. The hogs I shot at the other night had no clue where it was coming from took 2-3 shots for them to even realize what was going on. If the thermal had a bigger field of view with a red dot probably could have gotten off 6-8 shots before they knew what was going on.

I agree with Royal on this one. I use my 30cal can on my AR15, 300BLK and several 308s. Even with supers the recoil and the loud go away. Makes it nice. Ive gotten so used to it that when I shot a deer with my Rem VTR 308 this year I though my ears would ring forever. Had a running debate with myself to sell the thing for about an hour (I didn't...) but anyway I love my suppressor and would be lost without it now. Id skip the "tricky" part of a new AR and get the suppressor. Really cool with bolt guns
