TYE - Are you on a high fence? You seem to have an abundance of deer, and in daylight. So many of us in Eastland and Stephens are seeing nothing.

Whats your secret!?

Thanks for the updates, very entertainig.

Yes we are HFed and have native deer(no pen deer). The buck to doe ratio is around 1:1 and I figure there is a deer per 10 acres or so. The fawn crop has been down over the last 3-4 years. Some times we see a lot of deer and other times we get skunked. Right now it is hard to find does to shoot. They are staying in the brush. I think they are scared to come around the feeders because they will get harassed by the bucks.

The bucks I saw this a.m. trotted off into the brush like they were after does. I didn't see any does though. This place has always had a good amount of deer even when we where low fenced.

I spoke with Kevin at Rust deer plant yesterday. He said it has been a terrible year

Yea, it has been a tough year around that area. I saw lots more deer during bow season and got lots more pics then than I am getting now. Kevin has been slow this year at Rust and his hunting has only gotten him one doe, so far.

Agree the low fawn production since 2011 has hurt the numbers of deer in the area.

Tye, I think you will like the 130 Accubond when she gets a chance to use it on a deer. Of the bullets I have tried in a 6.5-284 it is my favorite so far, accurate and does well on game. Not saying the Berger 140 VLD, 140 BT and 140 Partition have not done their job I just like the way the 130 Accubond has done with the critters I have shot with it. Only shot one with the 120 BT so far and it was a close in neck shot it worked but then again about anything centered punching a neck at less than 20 yards works.

I'll post up pics if I get to let one of the 130 ABs go this afternoon.

The place I hunt in Stephens was really slow this year. I was out this weekend and only saw three small does. My cousin said he hasn't seen a deer in the last 5 sits. It hasn't been good this year at all.

The Accubond did exit but the Ballistic tip caused more damage. I've shot Ballistic tips for over 25 years and have always had an exit. I think a lot of people believe the bullet blows up on impact. I've shot 3 deer this year with 3 different bullets. Between the 140 AMAX, 140 ballistic tip and the 130 Accubond, I live the damage caused by the BT. All the rounds were loaded with 41 grains of H4350 and had the same over length. All the deer were shot between 90-110 yards

I shot a cull whitetail buck and a nice Black buck last week with the 120 gr BT from my 260. Both exited and it went thru the offside shoulder on the BB. Neither went more than 20 yards.
