Sitting here with my 8 yr old boy in a tower blind in Kent County. Company I do business with invited us to take a mature and cull buck over the weekend.
38 degrees, overcast, and little wind. Sitting in an open field with 2ft tall grass with heavy brush and fenceline to the South and West of me.
Feeder just went off.

Big bodied deer under feeder. Can't see what it is yet. Common light!

Let a 120 class 8pt walk. Very hard not to let my son shoot. 3.5 maybe 4.5 year old deer.

Quiet now.
Yeah, looking back I should've let my boy shoot. Buck had 6" brow tines, 7-8" G2s and 3s with about a 16" spread. Not pencil horned but not real heavy. Definitely a pretty deer.
Regret is setting in lol.
I hate first mornings.

Sitting now facing the NW about 200 yards away from the highway. See how this goes.

Not yet. Saw another nice mature 8 this morning but we're only allowed to shoot 10s or better.
Very discouraging when even on all the camera pics they have nothing but 8s.

I hate first mornings. I feel your pain. We haven't seen one deer at our lease but hunted my uncles place this past weekend. Saw lots of deer and a really nice buck. I'm guessing about 18"+ spread with LOTS of antler! Roughly 200 yds away but wouldn't let my boy take a shot. We were hunting for a big doe. Hard to tell him no.
