Will this guy ever have a "normal" rack? He has a few years of growth ahead of him, just wondering if we're wasting corn on him.

Something that resembles a typical 8 rack.

I guess the question should have been: based on what y'all have seen, is he more than likely going to look like this next year?

From what I can see in one pic is that he was a typical main frame 9 point with a couple of broken points now. I have seen bucks stay the same, some grow a little and some grow so much you don't recognize them from one year to the next. Age, rainfall and genetics will effect what happens to him in the next year or so. Unless he meets his maker before the end of the season.

My thoughts are he's going to likely be on the smaller side considering he's already 3.5+ yo on age. Probably will not be the widest rack or longest tined rack ever. I would give him one more year to see where he's at.

Will give him one more year...I haven't seen less than 5 deer per sitting this year, sometimes in the evening I'll see 10 or so right before dark. Nice mixture of does and bucks, but very few "nice" bucks.
I'm taking a good look at our "regular" bucks with a few weeks left in the season. I think that we have too many deer for our 700 acres, we usually harvest between 4-6 per year (mostly spikes/does) and have only taken 3 "trophy" 8's in the last 5 years. This year we have taken one 6pt and two spikes.
I'm not sure how many we should be harvesting, it just seems like we have too many.
I'm counting my blessings this year as I read the threads about hunters getting skunked. I've only sat in the stand one time and not seen a single deer: last year late December when it was in the teens and blowing 40 mph. I had ice on the inside and outside of my plexiglass window...but hey, I was in the stand.

Full chest, rounded body with a sagging belly, an older buck on the decline.

I would give him one more year to see where he's at. It's funny I've been watching a 7pt in mason since he was 2.5. He been a regular feeder buck his whole life. Unfortunately I only paid attention to him or really noticed him as a 2.5 year old. He was a short tined(except brow times they were above average) but probably 13-14". At 3.5 he got a little wider may be 15-16" put still short tined and above average brows, not much mass. Now at 4.5 he is over 20" wide and times have grown some. He put on a ton of inches this year. Hoping he doesn't begin to stray much. Really like to take him to 6.5 just to see what he does. You really never know. Here he is last year. @3.5 Op's deer is just busted up. He ain't hurring any thing
