Had a GREAT time meeting others from the fourm as well as some members this weekend, and wanted to send a big thanks to Allen and the other members for your hospitality as we crashed the place. I tell you... this was a great time for me and an experience that I will never forget. What the trip lacked in #'s of birds, it more than made up for with good times. I don't think I have laughed that hard in years with some of Chase's stories... you sir, are not right

I know some others took pics and hope they turned out better than some of mine....PLEASE POST THEM UP!

Here are a few that did turn out as well as a couple videos of the pheasant hunt. Pretty good video of me smoking a rooster with my double 10 from 1889. A real dream come true for me to take an amimal with the same gun that my great great grandfather used to shoot.(Sorry... video is about 45 sec, but worth the wait) The other video shows just how fast those pheasants can get up and out of there when there is 30 mph winds...That hen was out of there.

Finally some video of just a few of the geese we had in the area. At one time we had about 15,000 birds within a quarter mile of us... too bad they decided to sit down on the other side of the field. Turn UP your speakers to hear them. Maybe next time!

Anyway... had a great time and really enjoyed meeting everyone!

I'm glad you got that goose video. That sound...wow...I'm at home and was putting away gear and I could just hear them in my head. Thousands of snows.

Here's a picture of Kansas Kid, myself, Windrider and FowlMouth after the morning duck hunt. We got three drake green-wing teal, four drake gadwalls and two hen gadwalls. We hunted small water beside a larger tank in 30 mile per hour winds. Thanks to FowlMouth for bringing his dog Drake, who did a great job on some long retrieves.

Yeah, all those geese thought hard about landing in our spread, man that would have been something. Instead, they landed on the other side of the field from us, and then we had to compete with that, and there was no way.

Also btw, someone left their Colman ice chest down there.

At least you got to shoot your first goose Guy. Seems like that would make it worth it right there for you.

Snow goose hunting when they are really coming in is pretty amazing...such a rush. But just being out there and seeing and hearing them all is pretty cool as well.

I think if we would have had some wind in the early morning we might have done better. Also if it was overcast or cloudy I think we would have hammered at least one big group.

Yeah, that was also my first goose hunt, but Greg got me good with his little band trick.

Holy crap that was funny. He pulled that on me the day before with that pintail I got. I kind of knew he was BSing since I figured the guides would have said something after the dogs took it too him...but still I opened my mouth real wide cause the way Greg lined it up it looked pretty real.

So when we moved our ground blinds around at one point I grabbed that goose and gave it to Greg and whispered to him to pull that band trick on guy. Greg has a band on his lanyard. Anyway...I walked away and said in a voice loud enough that hopefully Guy would hear to greg "Hey did anyone check to see if that goose was banded?". Greg picks it up "Holy Sh__ Guy...this goose is banded" and shows Guy. Guy screams "NO WAY!!!!!" I started laughing my [censored] off because of the excitement in his voice. That was classic and may have been the highlight for me. I think it was pretty cool I got to see him get his first goose though too.

I'd say the hanging out and meeting the guys was the best thing about it. Met some really great guys who I'd love to hangout with and hunt with more.

And man...did Chase have some good stories. Not sure when the last time I laughed that hard between his stories and some of Gregs stories.

I made sure to take video of them working as I was walking and will try and post it up later. Also got one of their retrieves as well I think. I will try and post it up later tonight when I get home. I know I said it already... but those dogs did great.

I too had a great time meeting and hunting with the THF guys. I think I had a grin on my face the whole time! It was a pleasure meeting and hunting with all you. Chase and Greg had some really interesting stories. When I first got there I thought Greg was the cook because he said he was going to cook steaks. I saw him put two on, and thought that is not going to be enough for all of us. After seeing the steaks, I'm glad I he was cooking for himself. Anyway, I had a great time! I really enjoyed the upland pheasant. I have never done that before. I'm looking forward to seeing the pictures and videos.

I didnt take too many pics but here are all of them:

Dead ducks

I made a decent shot on a pintail.

Mbass, Greg, Chase, and the guides after the pheasant hunt looking at Greg's 1887 10ga double.

Mbass takes a shot with the old gun

Chase takes a turn. You can see the smoke. This gun only took blackpowder shells so it looked like you were shooting a roman candle when firing it. The shells were specially made for it with a roll crimp...pretty cool stuff.

My turn!
