Hey everyone,
I have a question about shoot through windows on pop up blinds. Does anyone actually shoot through the windows or do you remove the windows for a clear shot? Also, can you shoot through with any weapon - bow, rifle, muzzleloader, etc. Honestly, I'm not real comfortable shooting through with any of them, but thought I'd get some opinions.
Thanks,
Keith

dont shoot through the windows. you need to remove them first...... Why??? If your gonna use a bow, just shoot one with your set up at a target and see. What is good for one may not be for the other. If you are using a rifle, yes you can. Will leave a BIG hole in it though.

Fixed blade and rifle I believe I what they are made for. But mine have reinforced circle holes to shoot through. Don't wait to remove it when a deer is in the area they aren't fond of peeling Velcro that can be heard 1/4 mile away

Ive heard that if you don't stick the barrel out of a window on those popup blinds that you'll likely blow your eardrums out. Ive never tested the theory, but just something to think about...

IMO, fixed-blade only, certainly not mechanical or rifle.

Not true. I've shot 3 shots out of mine with the barrel inside.

I just poked a hole in the screen with my knife, no problem, another custom shooting port.
Why would a pop-up be any louder shooting a rifle if the barrel is out the window? My son shot two back to back in ours 2 weeks ago with his 30.06, rifle shot is a rifle shot outdoors.

I use pop up blinds and have shot through the mesh windows with no issues. Depending on the setup, I sometimes just remove the mesh. I put a pop up blind on top of a platform this year so I didn't need the mesh at all

I did good to get my pop up set up a month before season started.

We gave a guy on my lease a lot of grief for shooting a hole through his mesh window at a deer. He missed which is too bad because if he shot that dude, which was supposedly a stud, we would've all been shooting holes through our popups. I think you brush up your blind a little so that when you remove the windows, you're still hidden a little.

I have shot my fixed blade broadheads at a target prior to season just to see and they were thrown off by over 4-6" I just peel down the few windows I plan to shoot out of and leave the rest up.

Hunted on a lease a few years back and one of the guys shot a hog through the mesh screen window in his pop up with his rifle. It was an older stand and the mesh was sort of frazzled so the muzzle flash set the mesh on fire. I would have loved to have been there to see that show.

Shot more than a few critters through the screen with bow using slick tricks with no problems. Always move it for rifle hunting though.

I've killed two deer by shooting through the windows. No problem, but it will blow a large hole on the screen.
We've also cut a small slit in the screen and used it for a rest.
Works fine both ways with a gun. I wouldn't do it with a bow.

If you are an accuracy freak ( like me ) then I wouldn't recommend it. In fact I don't recommend it at all anyways. And yes...shooting guns in enclosed spaces will shorten the life of your antennas. On the other hand you want to shoot from concealment so don't poke your barrel all the way out

Yes you can shoot through the mesh with fix blad only. I would not try it with a gun they say the bullet deflect like a hitting a tree limb.

The whole concept of shooting through the mesh just strikes me as an accident or wound waiting to happen particularly with a bow. If you move slow and carefully I have never had one spook inside 20 yds, at least not yet.

I would never shoot through mesh with a rifle. However I've shot MANY deer with a fixed blade broadhead shooting through mesh. A couple of critical factors to consider.... 1. Fixed blade broadheads a must. 2. Paper tune your shots to make sure they are coming off the bow straight. 3. If at all possible, make sure the cutting diameter of your broadhead is at least the same size or bigger that the diameter of your arrow vanes. That way the hole cut by the broadhead is big enough for the vanes to pass through. I have a bunch of video's from inside the blind bow hunting shooting through the mesh net. Here is one with both an angle from inside the blind, and a GoPro camera I mounted on the other side of the feeder. Two angles of the same shot. On the GoPro angle, you can see the arrow pass through and land directly under the feeder. The deer went 30 yards. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0kifpxHYyHY
