I have a small lease with a little over 30 acres that is completely overgrown with tall grass that can hide the biggest of deer. I am asking if any body knows how or where I can go to find out how to properly do a controlled burn.

I would say it depends on your surroundings. We used to lease 18,000 acres close to Port Isabel, TX. We would burn the "sacweste", don't even remember what proper name for it is any more,... Anyway, after years of doing it and never having any problems, the fire department started coming out and putting them out even when I told them I did it and it is private land. You may want to start with them, it may bennefit them for practice on controlling wild fires. Maybe check with local game wardens too. Laws have changed so much now a days, you never know.

Gotta put some lead in the air if you're going to get anything!

Good place to check is the county agriculture agent. They work with cattle producers on burns so they know what you need.

The NRCS can help you with a burn plan if you need it. You will need to contact the Texas Forest Service, local sheriff and fire department before you burn.

At this time a lot of the State is under a burn ban.

yes every where has a burn ban now but I am hoping at some point they will lift it which is the time that I would like to do it if it is not to late in the year.
