My clean vizsla has always been good about going to the furthest corner of our half acre to do his business which makes it easy to clean up because I know where it always is. My nasty 5 month old lab will poop two foot from the back porch in the good grass and never in the same spot. Only consistency is that it's going to be close to the house.
Any products that really work or way to keep her from going in certain areas? It's not an issue of being too young to venture out. Her and the V utilize the whole yard to play and roam.
Thanks

I'd put the dog on lead and walk it to the location you want the dog to learn to use for #2. Repeat daily until the dog figures out that location is the pooping grounds. Having several dogs myself I've noticed that each has their own spot in the yard. Very rarely do I see one using the others "spot". You may need to assign her her own personal spot and walk her to it daily until she figures it out.

For example, after eating at 6 last night she pooped about an hour later (I know because I was outside). She hasn't eaten since and I just saw her pooping in the yard again today which spurred this post. I'm afraid I'd be standing out there for hours waiting on her to go.

Will that keep her from the area entirely?

What they use at the barnhunts after cleaning every dog accident is Natures Miracle No More Marking. Have not used it in the yard, but I can confirm it repels my dog from marking anywhere another dog has gone.

She's 5 months old so she can't be expected to defecate once a day in one certain area unless you are there to teach her.
She will NOT just poop once a day. Her digestive system is not developed enough. Morning and night would be a good bet but you may get a noon time poop when she she's going through growing spurt. To make her poop wet a stick match and put it in her annus. Keep her on lead and in 10 minutes she will poop where ever you want her to.
Keep the area clean from poop and put the poop where you want her to poop. Again use a leash to air her so she goes only where you want her to.
Your "nasty" labrador will be giving you the appropriate potty behavior before you know it but it will take some work.

Haha not trying to offend labs with the nasty comment. It was sarcasm. We love her. It's funny the different ways the two act. Here's a video from this evening. She'd fetch all day! Hope this works. Might have to click it.

A good many handlers that show dogs, use that trick. Keeps the dog from eliminating in the show ring.
Shopping with your husband is like hunting with the game warden. Experience is what you get, when you didn't get what you wanted.

Dare I ask how you figured this out? Learned it from a beagle field trialer. Works like a million bucks! Angie

My old lab has been bad about letting one rip close to the house. Wife has never been a fan of that. The Weimaraner we bought Joshua gets as far away from the house as he can. Zeus likes his privacy.
I might try the chili powder on my lab just to be onry to the old girl.

I might try the chili powder on my lab just to be onry to the old girl. We can be playing fetch and she'll literally drop the ball at my feet and then poop right there. She doesn't care.

We gave up and hired the neighbor kid to handle trash cans and pooper scoop the yard for us twice a week.
Problem solved.
