Woke up to pee at 2am. Zero wind and 40% moon. 5.30 wind started again. Nothing stirring but a nice sunrise.

Not sure what else we can do Bud besides hunting them consistently, 35-40 years of hunting and I'm at a loss for methods this season....

Nothing off true rd. Worst hunting season I have ever been apart of. Deer are nocturnal, hell the turkeys ain't even coming around. This is crazy.

Yeah but we got a month left. I have lots of water and rye throughout my pasture. It's pretty green. When it gets and stays cold I think they will move during the day. Always see more deer on my place in Dec.

Hartca, weren't you just seeing lots of deer a month ago or so?

I saw deer on my cam in throckmorton until day before rifle opener. Then nothing. Pigs came back first and this morning finally two small bucks at my feeder. I'm thinking next weekend.

Hunted Fri afternoon near Olney and saw nothing but sandhill cranes on the adjacent ranch in the wheat to the west. Worked on the MF 1135 tractor all day Sat and was too tired to hunt. Woke up this morning and went to southbend, saw 3 doe's in the headlights when I turned into the ranch around 6am. at 7:30 saw a buck jump a fence at 400 yrds and he never stopped and that was it .

Better luck in December boys grin

No luck this weekend either. Talked to some guys at Potters Pizza in Graham Saturday night and they haven't seen anything yet and overheard a gentleman at DQ on the way home hadn't seen anything and the guy at Clear Fork Country said they didn't have hardly any drop offs. Just checked my SD cards and I had consistent traffic all the way till 6pm Friday evening. Just vanished.

DQ

A few weeks ago they were rutting pretty good and I had 2 or 3 pretty good hunts but other than that it's been awful. I have been at my lease since last saturday, just now leaving to head home and I have seen 6-7 deer ALL WEEK.

Guys it really was a lousy weather week and it's been extremely inconsistent thru Nov. I really think when the native browse is history we will see more deer. Now whether it's the deer we want to see, that remains to be seen. Let's hope for some late does and a big secondary rut

Rumor has it DQ is calling in sick and planning a cold day no wind hunt tomorrow. I on the other hand have official business in Graham am tomorrow and will conveniently migrate to one of my blinds for a 3-4 hour sit. Back home tomorrow nite but someone has to do it.

We saw nothing to speak of all weekend. I only saw 5 small does Sunday morning. Hung out for 2 minutes and were gone. I tried to pick out the largest, but none seemed worthy of harvest. Let's hope for better weather (and understanding wives) as we move into the remainder of the season.

You know a well placed rifle shot to the neck or behind the breast will do the trick well too, right.

Cold weather today but no deer sightings on my place in morning or evening. Did have a very nice 10pt. cross FM 209 near Murray in front of me around 6AM today. Probably a 120-130 class buck so that was at least encouraging to see a good buck close to my place. Jimmy's son at J&N Feed & Seed in Graham said that we are really fighting a bumper acorn crop this year in Young county and the feedback from lots of hunters has been pretty consistent; "mostly nocturnal bucks coming to feeders and not many mature ones at that." He recommended to hunt the oak trees if you have them. Also, he said Clear Fork deer processors in Graham are down about 200 deer from last year. Hopefully December will pick up considerably.

Went out yesterday and man was it quiet. Not even the crickets were chirping. It was about 60 degrees with a very light breeze. Unfortunately didn't see a thing.

3 doe hopped in the feeder pen at 5.15. A mess of dove jumped about 75 yds away about 10 minutes in and they were on point from then on. Good to. See a few deer moving. For full moon hunters, saw a band of about 12 pigs that I have on cam. The ran across the road in front of my truck at 1pm. About 1/4 to 1/2 mile from my gate.

Seem to Moving midday, gonna sit early am, break for breakfast and back from 11 am on.
