Whats the deal. it seems like i am continuosly getting busted. even from upwind deer? I am not crazy about scent management, but not careless either. I am wearing clean cloths and sraying down with that stuff that "rutger's says is 99.9% effective." i am either that .1% EVERYTIME or that stuff is bogus. this year i have had deer blow out 3 times already. what am doing wrong.

I don't know but my dog covered himself in cow $^!t this weekend. He went everywhere but in the house undetected. Walked right out in the field where deer were feeding and they didn't even care. 
Sometimes it's hard being me! But somebody has to do it.

If you spray the scent killer stuff and walk straight out to the stand I find that I get busted also. I have to spray my clothes down and then let them hang dry. When I put them on I spray my hands with the scent killer and wring them around let them dry and then start putting on the clothes. I dont know if this helps, but it works for me.

STOP MOVING SO MUCH, and watch the wind... movement gets you busted more than anything...

Busted by upwind deer at what distance? Are you sure the wind isn't swirling? I don't use any scent control at all and very rarely get busted by upwind deer.

i do smoke, but have for years. i hunt the wind. swirls are possible, but i hunt as consistent of wind direction as i can. thinking about going back to those old school wafers that are "dirt" cover scent. but all things equal this year has been very frustrating by getting busted non stop. thanks for any input and feedback.

What are you wearing for camo and face cover? Are you in a treestand or groundblind?

What all causes deer to blow? I'm about 99.999% positive a doe that blew and ran off this past weekend didn't have anything to do with me. She was up wind from me in an area I hadn't walked through or been anywhere near and she ran my direction.
Her freak out session was enough to spook a spike that was heading right for an arrow to the rib cage, however. So it pissed me off.

with it so hot i have been wearing face paint. 2 deer never saw me. the 3rd deer the next day in another stand, never even got close enough for me to see it. I know its not a sighte thing, has to be their dang nose. I hunt in treestands.

I've seen a doe blow as she was entering a food plot. I'm sitting in the stand and I hear four or five blows about 50 yards away just inside the treeline. Then she appears in the open and was in fact prancing into the food plot. Wasn't alarmed at all.
What clothes/camo are you wearing? What detergent are you using? Does it have optical brighteners?

Willing to bet it's movement or glare. Does will spook when the hair on a gnat's hind end blows in the wind. If you have binos or a range finder the sun might be glaring straight into the deer's eyes.
If you're up wind from a deer scent doesn't matter, as long as the wind isn't swirling.

Do you have pets? Have you checked around your stand to make sure nobody is jacking with you. We hung a cologne sprayed t-shirts near a buddy's stand once. Mean joke but dang it was funny to hear the story about how the deer would freeze up, blow and haul out right at 47 yards. 
Sometimes it's hard being me! But somebody has to do it.

If you are getting busted by upwind deer (and the wind is not swirling) then they must be seeing something the do not like. Maybe it's movement or maybe it's a reflection off something you are wearing (like eye glasses)..or perhaps you stand is such that you are being sky lighted.

Since you said your a smoker and guessing you smoke in stand, it could be the movement of getting a cig, lighting it and taking drags off it. Im a smoker as well, im in a ground blind and its blacked out well and brushed out well also, hard for a deer to see any movement in my blind. Remember your in their house. I would say its a movement thing

A tip that worked for me. A roll of ductape. Taped up windows all but a 1 inch strip. I have wild deer with super vision.

both sets are tree stands. i dont smoke while on stand, near stand, or about to go to stand. i dont wear anything shinny, and i dont wear high dollar camo. i wear alot of stuff from academy or whever it went on clearnace at last february. i have done this for years. one of the does, i got to watch her reaction. it was a scent reaction. must have swirled at her. she stopped in mid stride and put her good ol nose in the air. did the head bob thing in my direction, then ran. stopped about 100 yards away and blew like crazy.

Then you've answered your own question. You'll never fool a deer's nose, I don't care what you wear or do. Now what you need to figure out is how and why you're being winded. Thermals and landscape can swir the wind especially on low wind days. Might have to set up a couple stands per site to have opinions in different winds.
