I just signed a 200 acr lease in Kaufman County off 34, real heavy cover with some good lanes near kings creek. I was curious on what type of deer are out there? Were a little late in getting the feeder set up but as you know once we start spinning animals will come in. There is 3 ponds and its next to a wildlife perserve.

I'm not real familiar with the area but my in laws live near Terrell and we have taken some real nice deer over the past 4 years. A 150s 12pt. A 140s 9pt and a140s 11pt. We don't usually see anything until the rut which fortunately for me is close to thanksgiving. I usually spend about a week there and most the time have a chance

I would say to you, be very patient! Once you get cams and feeders up, you will be pleased.

Low deer numbers but big bucks if that makes sense...good luck and good job finding something close to home! Best chance for a big buck will be the rut...try to thin the hogs if you got them.

Good luck!

Some friends of mine live just outside of Kaufman.
They put a feeder up close to their house recently cause
they've been seeing deer on their proprty.

There are deer in that neck o the woods. There are also poachers, and the Game Wardens know there are poachers. I was cruising passed there last year on 34, and a GW was causing some guy on a 4-wheeler to have a bad day.

It's very thick with hogs out there. May want to put hog panels around your feeders.
