So I have settled in the $250-$300 range for the binos and am looking at Nikon Monarch 3 10x42 and a some Vortex binos 10x50.
I have absolutely no experience w/ Vortex and wanted to get some feedback from anyone that has some? Any help/feedback appreciated

Hard to beat vortex for the price.
Look at cameralandny, you can sometime caught a good deal on a demo set of talons, step up from the diamond backs, none the less diamond backs are a great bino for the price.
If your worried about vortex call there CS dept(number on website) ask them about their warranty!!! He'll ask them if you run them over with a truck if they will fix them and the cost

Another vote for the diamond backs... love mine. I fact, I liked them so much I replaced my scope with one from Vortex as well.

Last year I spent weeks shopping and researching and had the Meoptas HD in my cart for a couple days. I deleted them and added the Vortex instead. They aren't the best, but they are the best for the money. Haven't dropped them or left them on the porch for the kids to jack with either. They won't even look at a gun, but leave some binocs or a flashlight laying out and they an't resist!

I own both and Nikon is clearer glass IMO. 2 years ago I couldn't tell the difference, but my eyesight has started to wane and I now have a different perspective on glass.

I own both as well, sat in a stand at almost dark and could more with the nikon, I really wanted the vortex to be clearer since I paid so much more for them....but no dice. Get a good set of Nikons and you will see

I own a pair of Vortex Diamondback 12x50 and I love them. Price, Quality and Warranty all added up to a great pair of binoculars. I liked my binoculars so much that I put a Vortex scope on my rifle.
You won't go wrong with Vortex.

I've got a set of leupold bx-2 cascades 10x42 in mobu infinity in the classifieds that I would let go for way under your budget.

Just finished my first hunt with my Vortex 8 x 42 Razor HDs. Extremely pleased with clarity and low light performance. Performance equal to top 3 brands at 1/2 the price. Got a great deal from Cameraland on a busted box.

I just shopped and bought in that price range. I compared the Vortex, Leupold, and Bushnell Legend Ultra HD. All in 10x42. After reading many customer reviews and doing some hands on heads up (in store) testing I bought the Bushnell. They were a better fit for me and I found them on sale at native outdoors.
My wife has the Leupold 10x42s that are $299. After extensive field testing we agree the Leupold has superior color and the Bushnell has better clarity and low light transfer. These are things that could not be seen in store. Good luck with you purchase. I have never handled the Vortex outside the store.
