Time to revive this thing and get back on track. I appreciate everyone's encouragement on the last go round. I wasn't exactly in shape for my elk hunt, but I was a LOT more prepared for it than I would have been without the workouts.

I had my toughest workouts on the hunt, and I'm determined to not let that go to waste. I just did a mild strength routine, and it felt great. I, as well as the rest of my elk group, have a year to prepare. We can get in pretty dang good shape by then. I intend to be at my target fat percentage, and much stronger, with far better cardio. I just need y'all to stay on my case about it. No slack. No excuses.

Who's in?

Oh, for Pete's sake.

I plan on continue my walking. And dealing with the sleep apnea in the next month is my biggest goal. I see the Neurologist to have him read the darn sleep study and advise me early next month.

Sorry. I'm eat up with elk. That trip ruined me all over again.

Best wishes on the sleep study. You'll be back chasing elk, so get after it.

Elk hunting is great motivation up

CR, How did you do this past trip? Maybe the SS will give you some additonal avenues to pursue and make next year all the better too.

I've already had the sleep study done a while back. I just wasn't impressed with how the pulmonologist didn't even tell me to come back after the study to discuss; just sent a note to my PCP saying "prescribed APAP", which he technically didn't do. 'Whole thing felt like the bum's rush. I've been seeing this neurologist for several years for migraines and he offered to read the study, which I got a copy of. He has the machines in his office, so I assume he treats apnea.

theringworm was really the only witness to the true limits of my cardio ability. I don't think he was particularly impressed. I guess the darn treadmill is the only place for cardio that won't hurt the knees (and doesn't require the wife wink ) ; it's just so darn boring. When I see antlers, the adrenalin has always carried me to where I need to go. But apparently, it now takes cardio exercise to get to where you see antlers.

Thanks for asking.

I'm the same way when hunting, see something a mile over and have to go "see", deal with the return trip later grin

So they said you needed a CPAP and you didn't get one to use?, Wife say's you will generally have more daytime energy using a CPAP, if the study say's you need one. Hard to find a Doc these days that takes the time to give a Sh$t.

Well, one thing about it, next time you can go with us, I've got some great spots for you to hunt. I can't promise they are easy to get to, but they're not bad, and you can sit there all day with a good chance of seeing something.

Started back up with P90x last night. Had a hard time brushing my teeth this morning. 3 mile run tonight. Feeling good, other than my arms.

Just the ol' 5K big hill with Bebe the wonder dog this morning. She can be quite haughty.

I didn't do squat for a week, let all my aches a pains heal a bit. I've never noticed tons more energy with an exercise routine, like some people brag about; it's probably my apnea I'm about to deal with sapping the energy. But, I am prone genetically to what Sir Winston Churchill referred to as "the black dog" of depression, even though I have less to complain about than pretty much any one I know. Wife took a trip to help a friend for a few days so I piddled around alone, hunted a little opening weekend, etc. I kept wallowing in self-pity and I couldn't figure out what the heck was wrong and why didn't I man up, then I realized, I hadn't done much at all in the way of physical activity. Took a 2 mile walk with the big stick this morning and did a few push ups. Feel a lot better. So, to those that might also have the black dog hound them every once in a while, make sure you're doing at least a little bit of light exercise regularly - it does seem to help.

Thanks again to Sneaky for this thread and his insane obsession to want to run down wapiti. Every little bit helps to get my lazy butt moving.

It does make a difference. I haven't worked out the last few days. They sent me on a job with a couple of green hands, so I've been busy with that. I've been eating right, though.
