I've built 2 uppers and 2 lowers. I wouldn't call myself an expert, but I have experience, all the tools and would be happy to help if you're in/willing to come to my place in DFW

Call Scott at Specialized Dynamics. He does all my AR work, and is very good.

Post reply's here. I'm thinking of doing the same thing but need a smith with the knowledge and tools to do a first class job, no learners permits here, just a first class, experienced AR Smith.

It's an AR. It's a lot like building with Legos, line up the holes and put it together. The average Joe with the right tools can assemble one. Then they know how to fix it if something ever happens.

It is far more important to be able to hit the target than it is to haggle over who makes a weapon or who pulls a trigger.

I know it's easy. But I can't tell you how many people I talk to with AR problems, and I ask them who's AR it is. There answer is usually someone's brothers', girfriends', uncle built it. No thanks!

This is true ... I've had to fix a few of my buddy's rifles before as well . But if u USE GOOD PARTS and put it together RIGHT, u should have no problems

Appreciate the response. I know its easy but due to certain geographical details, its easier for me to work with someone than paying the cost of shipping and having to deal with the bs laws where I am currently. I'm looking for an experienced person with a good reputation in the Dallas area.

Ive built well over 100 uppers for guys here on the THF and tons of lowers for myself and friends and as long as you have the proper tools its something you can do yourself. The only reason I would have one build it for me is if I didnt have the tools to do the little extra things like lap the receiver face to match the barrel dipple the barrel for gas block screws or things of that nature.

It's not hard at all.
