Would like to know what you guys are paying for a 50lb bag of protein, what brand, and where you are buying from. I am most interested in places to purchase between Fort Worth and Seymour, TX (NW TX area).

19% protien for right at $10 a bag. The deer love it, it's apple scented and so forth. I had alot of trouble with the deer eating other brands. Baeza Feeds in Marfa, Tx well worth it if you feed a couple of tons

any idea how that Ground Protein mix would feed in a traditional protein feeder? Ever used the soybean hull/corn gluten feed?

Talked to gorman feeds a minute ago and they have a 17% deer pellet they are selling for $7.80 per 50#. i like that better than 8% protein corn has for $6.00 per 50#. they also make custom mixes of anything you want in your deer feed that has a min 3ton order.

I use the soybean hull. It works good in feeders too.
You have to take your own barrels.

Any body know of a feed store near or in weatherford and what the price of protein is there?
Also do you feed protein all year? or just in the off-season?
Thanks for the info.

Russell's Feed is one I've used in the past, however, they are really located in west FW / White Chapel area.

About $342/ton is what we get here in Gonzales for a 20% protein.
We get a few truck load of alfalfa delivered to us from Kansas and sell it down here for about $180/bale. They are 3' x 4' x 8' and weigh about 1300 lbs. Every animal I got is loving it right now as dry as it is.
Sure wish it would hurry up and rain.

I've been using a cattle cube from red chain (gorman), it's 20% protein and looking at the ingredients is very similiar to anterlmax. It's a larger cube but the deer seem to be eating it at the same rate as when I was feeding antlermax and it's $8.25/50# bag vs $11.75. They have a smaller cube that's virtually the same size as antlermax but it's 13.5% protein and is peanut based, the deer like it too, it runs $8.75/50# but better deals may be out there as I'm buying from a small shop in winters, tx.
