I am thinking about getting a pulsar NV750. I like the digital night vision and have played with a 550. For the money is that the best option? Would you get an additional Ir Illumination? Is there something better out there for the money? Thanks for your help.

No I like mine, I have a larger illumator, but do not know if it is really needed. I also have a sight mark photon...it's not bad either for the money. The pulsar is much, much better!

You have choices between the 550 and 750, I would go with the 750. I do definitely think having the external illuminator such as a UNV20IR is the way to go, especially if you are planning on shots beyond 100 yards.
On a budget, then the Photon XT is pretty darned good, and I would suggest getting an illuminator for it as well.
The nice benefit is that both function in the daytime (though a cap on the Photon XT is needed because the sensor will overload and flash, no harm being done, but it makes for a wacky image to watch). Daytime use and without risk of damage really is the big feature that sets aside digital NV from traditional low end nv.

I pretty much agree with DNS... Between 550 and 750, the 750. Durable and it is hard to beat Sellmark's customer service should you have an issue. I have the Photon XT. Much cheaper and I think the sight image is pretty close to equal to the 750. FYI, Pulsar is getting close to releasing a new model similar to the 750, but with built in rangefinder.
Regardless of which you choose, I would definitely plan on adding a strong illuminator like the UNV 20 IR.
Edit: Just saw 505ed's post. The old Photon 3X or 5X is no comparison to the new XT. Just tring to reduce confusion.
