H110? Is it as finicky as I've been led to believe?

A buddy of mine brought me 3lbs of H110 and 1k 220gr Sierra hp's to build some 300 blackout rounds. I've never used H110 or 296(supposedly the same powder), and from what I've read about it, it's quite finicky in the load range.
I've read if you don't put enough powder, or you get too much, it can cause a kaboom. I'm not meaning 2 or 3 grs over max, what I've been led to believe is that if the load range is 10.9-11.8, then the load better not be 10.7 or 12.0.
Is this powder really that delicate?

No. But you should follow good loading practices and you will be fine. BTW- is the h110 working as a sub load for you? Cycle an AR?
And yes, H110 and Win 296 is the same exact powder. They will have different lot #'s, which can cause slightly different charge amounts from lot to lot, but it is the same exact powder.

I haven't loaded any up yet, just wanted to find out about the powder before I started.

I should have a few loaded up by this evening to play with on Saturday with the new chronograph. I've never used a chronograph before, it certainly looks interesting in the box.
Going to see if these will cycle a 16" .300aac and I'm curious as to how fast the 17.0grs of lil gun with a 125gr ballistic tip will fly out of the 16".

Depends on your rifle. H110 hasn't work well in my testing for cycling. Make sure you start HIGH on the subs and work DOWN. You won't have a hot load if you use H110 and can still fit a bullet in the case. But if you start too low with too low of a load, it can cause a stuck bullet due to lack of pressure. Ask me how I know!

I use it in my 454 loads (SRH) and it works fine in ranges from 19-23 grains depending on the bullet weights. Working up loads I've had ladder work ups across 2 grains. It likes pressure if that makes sense.
