Neighbor shot a doe because she could barely walk. Was fairly obvious why once he got a closer look:



Anyhow, I think he did her right putting her down. Looks terrible.

From what a vet told me, yes. I would skin and hang the deer in a cooler for a day or so to see what it looked or smelled like. Most of the ones I saw were bucks and they were not mobile enough to stay out the other bucks in the rut.

Shot a buck like that once a few years ago. He was way under the 13" rule but I couldnt stand watching him trying to get around. Ive seen deer with 3 legs get along fine, but this deer was in agony. Was the first and only time Ive been checked by a warden and when I showed him his hoof he thanked me. Btw, out of curiosity I lanced it.... Lets just say its hard for me to eat guacamole any more.
