I just called over there yesterday and Harry said he didn't have any and didn't know anywhere that might.
It seems pretty scarce right now.

This weekend, I'm going to post up a list of trade goods (powders) available.
If anyone has some 231 to trade, let me know what you could use and I'll check for that first.

I would have said SW also.I only live about a ,mile from there...What you loading ...45 acp? I use W-231 for .45acp,but have come to like Hi-Skor 700x better. Anyways didn't know there was local shortage went and made me go check my bench....got about half pound or so left of each!Graf and sons are out of stock and Midway has 4-6 week back order...Might Try the gunshow this weekend is only thing I can suggest!

I don't know if you would want to switch but he did have some titegroup in for pistol. Haven't used it myself yet but that is what I picked up a while back for pistol loads.

Try Hodgdon HP38. Same stuff since 2006.

It used to be cheaper as well.

I haven't seen any 231 in at least a year and I keep an eye out nationally. After I drained my last 8 pounder, I switched over to 700X and don't have any complaints with it at all

I haven't seen any 231 lately, but I have bought some HP-38 which is the same thing. Occasionally you will see some small differences in loading manuals between the two. But W-231 and HP-38 have been the same since Hodgdon bought Winchester powders.

Try Cliffy or 5 Stand Dan on this forum. Either or both might have it.

Without digging My manuals out if I recall I was getting better performance with 700-x and using less powder!

Cabellas in Allen had a bunch of 231 this afternoon in both kegs and 1 lb'ers, about 2pm. Tons of Primers too, mostly WW's. Big crowd standing in line at the Gun checkout made for tough trying to see the contents of the powder case. IMR 4895 & H414 too, stuff I haven't seen in a long while.

Jon, good luck in finding some! I ran across the same situation here in central TX, Austin area
and such. Checked with most gun shops and Cabelas mostly all say they are having problems in getting
current stock. One big shop said the military is using 231 for loading arms ammo.... I dont buy it.
I dont trust anyone who talks out the side of theyre mouth! Some high school kid at the Academy in Austin
said they would someday sell powders, but i doubt it.
I use 231 on my Dillons on loading 45ACP, 9mm... its clean burning powder for sure, may try the
700X for grins.....
