I hunt just a few miles west of the Katy prairie and up in Waller about 25 miles north of the Katy prairie.
For the past 2 weeks birds have been really thin in both places. Ive had anywhere from 80 to over 100 birds in freezer by the end of September for the last 10 years, im pushing 60 right now.

Dont know if this is true but I was told theres a 20 year cycle on whitewing migration. I guess they dont migrate as far north or some chit like that? Anybody know if this is true or not?

Not really sure on the cycle years he said so its a guesstimate on my part.

My place north is SA had a ton of WW at the beginning of season. Now just a few very skittish mornings flying around and no ww. My other place out by rocksprings tx. I don't dove hunt but there has been a huge influx of birds thru there. I've never seen a ww there till this season I've been archery deer hunting there and man I could limit in 15 mins mostly WW . From my tripod.
Last 2 years at the home place I stacked the freezer as well. Last year I had 287. This year 112. And I shot better this season. there flying diffrent patterns etc. That's why there called migraters and that's why it's called hunting. Hasn't stopped me from watching the skies every chance I get. A weird dove season for sure for me aswell.

Saw a few flocks of em in Waller on Monday and was able to get a few, gonna try it again this evening.

Talons or claws bigger than I've ever seen. Almost white ish breast meat. Birds have a fat content leaving my hands greasy when cleaning em. I ride cent feathers at their necks. Totally awesome

Probably be covered in WW down here after season is over, then gone by 2nd split. Be thinking ducks during 2nd split anyhow

Some pics will upload and some won't saying they're too big. I'm pretty bad at this stuff and don't know how to resize em from my phone. I don't know why it's doing that

I've seen more than in prior years where I hunt. Heck, I got my first two ever this year. Too bad one was a juvenile (same size as a mourning), the other was as advertised (larger). Now, if I could hunt off my backyard ... grin

Isn't every dove season weird at some point for whatever reason?

That blows, at least it's only 25 miles each way.
Mines 75 each way:(

Say what? I work in Irving and there are literally 1000s in town. See very few in Mansfield/Arlington/Kennedale
