I am just getting into adjusting my triggers. My first adjustment was on a Savage 110 (.270), (which is my 'doe gun' because I like to shoot'em in the neck.)

I found some detailed instructions on the web and I followed them to a 'T'. I have to say that I am proud of what I have done. I don't have a scale to messure the poundage, so I did what any rednecked would. I used a Wal-mart sack with 2 can 14oz cans of corn and a 7.75oz can of green chilis. That is where my trigger pulls. (35.75 oz or 2.234 pounds)

I didn't pull the trigger apart and polish the pieces, but I did polish the areas where the bolt slides back and forth. Now, it feels like it is on ball bearings. Just Right!

So what do ya'll think? ... too light for hunting?... can I go lighter, or should I heavy it up some? I have read that 4 pounds is recommended for hunting. What do ya'll have your triggers set at?

Lets talk guys... I'll be back after I make myself a PB&J samitch.

I keep my deer rifle at 2lbs, Kampfeld is building my 220 swift, and it will probably be set 1.5, but will figure that when he actually gets to the rifle, my daughters rifle is being worked right now and will keep it at 4lbs. Until she gets a little older.

I like mine from 2lbs to a half pound more. I try to keep all of them about them same so that it does not matter which one I am shooting they are all the same. As for my son's rifle I too don't like it under 4lbs.

I found some instructions on adjusting the trigger on my Ruger M77 (30-06) (my buck rifle). I am double thinking that though, because it is one of my two actually 3) pride-and-joys. My dad gave me this gun but I am really thinking that I will re-work it tomorrow morning.

At any rate, 2-1/4 lbs. is a pretty good pull weight according to ya'll. I did give it a shock test, and all checked out well.

Here is another place for info on the Ruger. I have not tried it myself though.

That is the exact artile I found earlier, and as soon as I finish cutting out my deer steaks, I am gonna take a bike ride, and then work on my Ruger.

IF (big IF...i'm broke) I was to put a new trigger in my Ruger; which trigger would be the way to go?

Not as easy as it is on a Remington.

I've used Timney triggers for years. Your looking at 100 bucks plus change, but it makes a world of difference.
