Do you think the fence is to high or to hard for the deer to get in. This is my first year hunting this lease and this feeder and fence were already in place.

Yes and Yes, plus it is to small IMO. Looks like it was built as a hog trap to start.

Does appear slightly high but more than that, looks a bit tight to me. Not much room besides the feeder legs in there.

Exactly what I was thinking way to tight, I think I'll take it down I don't think the cows on the lease will mess with the corn to much.

If you do that you I would drive a t-post at each feeder leg and secure the leg to the t-post so the cattle can't knock the feeder over. I would also get a varmint cage to keep cows from trying to lick corn off the spinner plate. My guess is who ever had the feeder had hog and/or cattle problems in the past. That is why he had a pen up IMO.

If you have cows on the property and you don't do anthything to protect that feeder then they will knock it over. Get you a couple more panels and add to the pen to make it bigger or do what stx says and stake the legs down.

these guys here gave me the best idea that worked for me and that was making a circle out of panels.
the deer jump right in and seem relaxed
no corners to get caught it seems to be a plus

I'll give that a try take it all down and build a lower circle fence a bit wider around to keep hogs and cattle out.

You will want to make a fence at least 30 feet in diameter to make sure no corn gets spun outside the fencing and the deer can get in there easily. Your pen here is too small and the deer can't get in there. It isn't too late to make this change for this year, but if you don't change it you will likely have a frustrating season over this feeder.

Did y'all notice the corners? they are all open, so a deer can just walk on in. At least a doe could, a big buck would have a time.

I'd sure replace it as the fellas mentioned and quadruple the size. There is a reason a double fence a few feet apart will keep deer out of a garden and that pen looks way to tight.

That feeder will throw corn outside the pen. Does and yearling will probably go inside the pen if they were raised around it. A buck with any age probably won't and will just eat outside.

On one side you should cut part of the top row of the fence so the fawns/smaller deer can get in.

The height doesn't bother me as bad as the size. Deer will jump it but prefer it lower. The open ends help I am sure, but I would enlarge it.

It looks more like a hog trap setup than a deer feed pen.

Just add a short panel to each side

What is the ideal height for a fence to keep hogs out? Or should I ask at what is the lowest it can be and still keep hogs out?

Finally fixed the fence, much bigger and half of it is lower.

The 34 inch hog panel at minimum. I thought I'd be economical and cut some 50 inch in half. The bigger hogs jumped right over, I have not had that get in the pens that are 34 inches high.

Thank you. I'm hoping to keep them away from the corn so the deer will come around more, but it's kind of last minute to hope for very much success. According to me game camera, nothing is coming in anyway, just raccoons. Once the acorns rot, that will change.

We set up a 2 strand barbed wire fence around our feeder and the deer have no problem getting in and the cows and donkey have stayed out. I would recommend a bit larger area though.

I'm thinking they'll be able to eat the corn outside the pen

Yea if that is a twelve volt, it will sling a long way. I usually cut the the full cattle panels down 2 squares, they are cheaper than hog panels.
