You're looking at to completely different rifles. Of the two, I would get the Remington if you don't mind the heavier barrel. Either one will be good rifles. The scope will be great once you settle on ammo and figure out the BDC, if that's what you are getting.

If they still offer it I'd recommend Weatherly Vanguard II in 6.5 Creedmoor rather than 25-06. I've got both, my 6.5 CM is a custom tho....

I think the weatherby is cold hammered forged Im a remington guy so thats the one id go with, a weatherby guy will be along in a bit. I imagine both guns would shoot well.

I'll never understand why Remington labels a gun "long range" yet chambers it in 25-06.

I would go with the Remington. They can shoot pretty good for a factory rifle once you get a load dialed in.

I'm a Weatherby guy, but for his price point I had to choose the Remington because the Range Certified is about $300 over the Remington. I would also suggest the 257Wby

I have a 257 wby that is a vanguard deluxe. I really like it but the trigger could be better and there is limited products and smiths that will mess with a weatherby trigger. I would go with a 700 in 25-06 if I had to do it all over again just because you have so many customizing options out there.

Thanks guys, I actually was kinda leaning towards the 700. I don't know I had this convoluted idea about a 25-06 in a semi-quasi tactical sniper gun,if u will, kinda all dressed up like the big boys but in a smaller package, thought it might be cool to have and the 700 pretty much has the standard pkg for that with the stock and hvy barrel, slap a scope,a bipod and a ghillie sock on it and there you have it. And as far as long range goes, out past 300 yds and I get into fantasy land, with my eye sight I would need the Hubble telescope
again thanks for the info

25-06 was a favorite texas long range deer round for years and there aint nothing wrong with it today. Depends on your definition of long range. 300 and 400 is not long range. 600 plus is, according to the NRA, and I tend to agree with them. There are many better choices for long range than a quarter bore, even one with Weatherby powder behind it.

your right sorta you real long range guys are doing that and doing it well,BUT for the average guy hunting 300/400yrds is a long range shot. just like the BR guys the LR guys are hung up on stating what works for them and their game like all else leads to a utter failure. There is alot they have to contribute tho For about 70 years there were guidelines for what was reliable performance on Game at distance advances in bullets and optics have changed that some what but we shouldnt just throw those out will nilly. there is nothing Wrong with a 2506 on deer and similar animals at 300 yards, in a good rifle it will be moa and certainly more then powerfull enough to do the job with a substantial margin for aww crap.
LR shooting is the current trend just like super magnums were a few years ago, great if that what twangs your twanger, but most animals are still shot under 100 yrds or right at it.

That's absolutely right. But don't call 300 yards long range. It's halfway to long range.

I'm a Weatherby guy, but for his price point I had to choose the Remington because the Range Certified is about $300 over the Remington. I would also suggest the 257Wby Why pay for range certified when the V2 has a sub moa guarantee? The Remington doesn't have diddly for warranty and if it shoots 2" and you send it in they will send it back and say it shoots within their specs. Plus the trigger in v2 will be set at 3lbs and the Remington trigger will be at 5 or so. And I would do the 257 WBY too.

I can attest to the weatherby shooting good. Stock wise better trigger. If you plan to modify go 700. If a factory rifle is good enough I'd go Weatherby.
