Whats the most useless piece of gear you own, and things you cant do without.. The one that you wish you had never bought. I got back into duck hunting 3 years ago after hunting them from the time I was a little boy until finishing college. Always hunted small lakes and ponds so the learning curve for hunting Ducks on the big lake was steep at first.
Started out with a monstrosity of a boat blind that fit on my 18ft Skeeter bass boat. Must have stuck out like a soar thumb with the low lake and brush line 30 yards out of the water. Live and learn.....
Best gear....Scout, my Iron Spike machine.

My best piece of gear besides my shotgun is my Cabelas Northern Flight blind bag. I love it and it helps carrying all my equipment for those long public walk in hunts.

I love my Mojo Pick Stick. Makes it easy to track down my hulls that are in the water and I can leave the place just as clean as I found it.

good layout blinds. I spent years hunting lake banks in homemade blinds, and no matter how well they are built and brushed, they still stick out more than a layout. Granted there are a few scenarios when they can't be used, but I hunt mine whenever possible.

I don't always shoot deer, but when I do, I prefer B&C's. I don't always shoot ducks, but when I do, I prefer banded ducks.

My best would be my jet sled simply because it is so handy. I've used it to hual gear in walk in hunts, pulled it behind my kayak, I've used it as a layout, I've hualed little kids to the blind in it and I can hook it to my dog when its fully floating and he can pull it. Lol
Most useless would be my long line rig. I don't use it very much and I'm probably going to change it up sometime soon and go a different route for deeper water.

My shotgun, blind bag and a good pair of waders. Most useless is Mojos. Seems I kill more ducks when there not out. Use to work great but the last couple years they seem to spook birds for me.

Most useful is my sled, those long walks are so much easier with a sled, useless- mojo's
Arise.Kill.Eat -Acts 10:13 I have read a bunch of stuff on the internet about Star Wars but that does not mean I can skin a deer with a light saber.

I think the most useless piece of gear I have is any duck call I own that quacks. I have called in a few ducks with my Primos Winch and my Buck Gardner Double Nasty but I have far better success with my mallard whistle, teal hen, teal and widgeon calls. It doesn't seem to matter what species is out off my spread, I can use any of these calls to get them interested........... My favorite piece(s) of gear. My dog (Iron Spike Bloodlines) and Rig'em Right decoy anchors........

Gloves(I've yet to find a pair I will keep on am entire hunt, so I finally stopped looking for the right ones) I fought the glove battle for a while and after working in a refrigerated/frozen environment back in the 80's and learning how to keep warm I knew I need air space to keep warm. The solution turned out to be these gloves which allows your fingers to share heat......... http://www.walmart.com/ip/Huntworth-Compression-Fleece-Pop-Top-Glove/21000072These aren't exactly what I have but I got them at Walmart. Between having these gloves and using Rig'em Right decoy anchors for my spread; so I don't have to get my hands nearly as wet, my cold hand problems have pretty much gone away.

Wooden push pole THAT FLOATS. Nothing worse than having to try to fish out a push pole in 6 feet of 33 degree water. They're a little heavier, but the extra weight comes in handy when you're smacking a cripple in the head.

Another one for the pick stick. Just got back from a hunt in Canada. There were 9 of us on 11 hunts averaging two boxes of shells per hunt. That's over 500 hulls per hunt and never had an issue with clean up. Great product MoJo.
