I just put in a black 125 gallon water tank at my cabin. It is not for drinking, but washing dishes, etc. What should I put in it to keep it from getting bacteria, etc. Any info is greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Biocide is best But if not for drinking you can use bleach or get a bag of pool chlorine shock and but a teaspoon in the tank when your out at your place will also work for cleaning dishes or hands.

Water quality page says this. We did this before we dug our well.
If necessary, treat water with a chlorine bleach solution prior to storage to prevent buildup of harmful bacteria or pathogens. Replace water every six months.
If your water is treated commercially by a water utility, it is not necessary to treat water before storing it. If you have a well or public water that has not been treated, disinfect the water prior to storage using liquid household bleach containing 5.25 percent sodium hypochlorite. Do not use scented or color-safe bleaches or bleaches containing soaps. The American Red Cross and the U.S. Federal Emergency Management Agency recommend the following procedure for treating water for storage:
Add six drops (1/8 teaspoon) of unscented bleach per gallon of water. Stir and let stand for 30 minutes. If the water does not taste and smell of chlorine after 30 minutes, add another dose of 1/8 teaspoon and let stand another 15 minutes. Seal the containers and label with contents and date of preparation.
Sometimes it's hard being me! But somebody has to do it.

We use regular bleach, to the tune of about a 1/2 cup per 100 gallons, in our tank. We use it for washing and ice cubes, and haven't had any issues to speak of.

I have a 275 gallon tote on an 8' tower that we use to wash dishes, and shower out of. Noticed this past weekend there was a little algea starting to grow. This should fix that. Need to get it painted black as well.

If you use bleach, make sure the waste (grey) water is not going into your DIY or other septic with lateral lines (excluding a city system) It will kill the enzymes and bacteria you need to break down the waste.
