I need someone to install 4.56 gears in my Silverado. I live south of Dallas about 20 miles. Any shops that y'all recommend me using around my area or up in Dallas?

I would go to 4wheelparts, they are about the only people in this area that care to mess with he chevy IFS gears. And it ain't going to be cheap!

I called 4wheel parts. $2,200. I wasn't sure if that was a good or bad price. I have never had gears done before.

Yep that's a good price for your vehicle. In a vehicle with 2 solid axles, you would be looking around $1500

I would contact beartrax and see what they say. It's not gonna be cheap no matter where you go. I'd probably also try some axle shops.

A good friend of mine had his done really cheap at a mom and pop place and he's had to have them redone 3 times now. So cry once if you plan to keep the truck.

If you have time, patience, and the ability to settle for no less than perfect you can set your own gears. I recommend at least watching some you tube videos of it before you pay that price. I did my own and I'm glad I did, solid axles though so it makes a bit of a difference. I'm no ase certefide mechanic eaither, just a college kid with a jeep lol

Dumb question but why do you want to put such a low gear ratio in it? Pulling stumps or drag racing?

For example, I put 4.88 gears in my jeeps axles with 35s. Stock is 29s and 3.55s.

And have alot of money in specialty tools.. Lol, harbor freight brother! Get a dial indicator-20$ tourqe wrench(should have one anyways)-20-30$ Beam style inch pound torque wrench-$20 Bearing splitter-$20 You would "want" a press but you can get by without one if you wanna work at it All the pillers you can get from AutoZone for "free" with loan a tool. You may spend 100$ on tools and 4-8 hours of work on each diff but you will save about 1500$
