Hey all,

Could use some input. Ive got to paint my stand (4x5 box nothing fancy) and would like to hear yall's recommendations about paint. Im not looking for what type of paint but rather the best way for the color scheme. I hunt just north of Brady so I was thinking a brownish green base and then an overlay outline with sprayed leaves and what now. Let me know if y'all have any advice. Thanks in advance.

I just use OD green and no pattern, just one solid color.

IMO, any color works. I chose hunter green of the cheapest exterior paint available at Lowes. I am all about a solid color because it is easy and all that is necessary. I don't think you need a pattern, unless you have some kiddos that want to help put some camo on the blind.

You could paint it bright pink and they'll still get used to it after 5 days

I've painted my blind WHITE. Easier to find in the dark. Deer are looking for movement

I paint them with oops paint that blends in with the landscape and may use cheap black spray paint to put tree trunk and branches on the sides. I paint the roof so it is harder to see from the air.

If someone wants to hunt for free, I put them in a blind with coyotes and mountain lions painted on the blind.

I usually lay down a tan or olive drab basecoat, then use some brown, black, and green for a little "Red-neck-ou-flage"

More for me than the deer. They don't care. I like it to blend in with the landscape.

You guys rock. Thanks for the reply. Think I may just go easy and cheap with black or OD green.

I go to a local Sherwin Williams paint store and ask to look through their mis-tinted paint. I can usually get a gallon of their best quality exterior latex in a suitable color. Price is around $5. If you don't like the color you can always hit it with a can of flat green spray paint after it's on the stand. But the color is to please people. The deer don't care.

I found 4.5 gallon bucket of oops deck stain in olive drab green for $20.

Seems to look good and work great.

We use a base color then add and decorate with aerosol spray cans for camo.

I got a 4.5 gallon bucket of green deck stain/paint for $20 at Lowes in the reduced paint section. Worth a try!

As stated earlier, it doesn't matter what color you paint it. The critters will get used to seeing it and quickly ignore it as long as it's not associated with something threatening to them. I usually paint mine, not to attempt to hide from critters, but to make it less noticeable from a distance to thieves and vandals.

I just paint the whole thing with some neutral earth tone color like tan, sand, light brown, then paint random splotches with green, black, and brown.
