I have a lot of ducks loaded up in the grass in my ponds. The water is about shin deep in the area I want to hunt. There are no levees or dry areas to hide on. I am trying to figure out how to hunt these birds. I know a lot of people use layouts with a tub. I have looked at some MoMarsh products. Does anyone have a brand of layout they use in water? Or should I build a low profile wooden blind?

We have cabelas blinds, but I am really eyeballing the Rogers goose busters. Laid in one last year and it was a Cadillac compared to the cabelas, spring loaded doors plenty of room etc etc. to be fair, we only own the second tier cabelas blinds, their top blind has a little more in the option category.

These can be had for $400 used. These can be used in other applications such as deeper wwater.

We have the Cabelas ultimate layout blinds and these are very nice and claim they can be used in up to 10 inches of water but we haven't put them to the test on that yet. We also have some marsh stools that have come in very handy this year. I would think either one could work in this situation.

You ever throw that in your mudboat when you had it?

Put your hipboots on. Go to the X
Buy or find 4-5 six ft tall T post at home depot
Put netting around it in a L shape if its just your buddy.
Sit on chairs. Done.

We use two milk crates stacked and tie wrapped together with some camo netting on t-posts. Blends right in and area perfect height for shooting and hiding. Must be very still. #concealmentisoverrated

Said the guy who shot no ducks!

After location, not sure what could be more important in my experience.

I have the ultimate layout blind by Cabelas and that thing is sweet. I've had it in 8" to. 10" easy! Also I weigh 190 lbs and it will float me in deeper water.

No I didn't. It will have to go on the airboat, pontoon boat or the bay boat when we buy a bay boat.

I have a cabelas ultimate and it works good up to about 5 inches of water. Deeper than that and the foot bag will fill up with water. I have a drake stake out and it works up to a foot but deeper than that you will swamp it getting in and out.

Go find a cane break and cut about 30 pieces down. They are very hard and put into the mud very easy. They will turn brown over the season and works great! I have killed several limits this way.

There are no canes anywhere near my wetlands and I would like to keep it that way.

I already cut palmettos to use in the same way. I was thinking of a way to hunt this area that would be easier on my dad. Thinking about cutting a sheet of plywood in half, building a bench on it, then building sloped walls out of cattle panel. I would keep it low enough to where when sitting your head would stick out above the walls. I would then rip grass up and camo it in. You would be sitting on the bench with water up to your ankles, the plywood would keep it from sinking into the mud. I would build it and drive it out in the wetland with the tractor. Trying to keep it as low profile as possible. I might attach a sketch to show you guys what I'm talking about.

Also thought about the Aero Outdoors blind.

Dove stool and a camo sombrero and your set. Don't look at the birds.
