Those were taken off the Delta P ranch in Giddings TX. It is owned by Tom Powell who is the CEO of Powell Electric. He has very nice animals and the prices are very reasonable.

high fence deer don't mean squat, for 1500 more iknow a place youcould have taken a 200" deer, but it wouldn't mean much either, for that money you would think they would cut out the tongue, wipe his mouth clean take some beautiful photos and kiss your arse on the way out the gate. LMAO!

Not wanting to start a debate on prices and the "value" of a trophy deer but are these prices about average/high/low for an animal of this caliber? I am just interested for interests sake. To me the value of a trophy is an individuals opinion and what you deem to be a trophy to yourself is all that matters. Be it the place you took it, the friends you shared it with, the special experience of the hunt I believe to each their own and no one has the right to belittle your experience or feelings over it. Congratulations on a Great deer and may you enjoy the memories of it for a long time!

One thing for sure: This thread has provided some pretty good free advertising for the Hale Ranch. Maybe tarponowski ought to ask for a referral fee!

Damn BMD. Kind of harsh don't you think??? Not everyone has the time to sit in the stand and play on the THF for 40 days a year, sending "Hunting In Progress" updates the whole time.

So you didn't buy any deer with that lease fee, trailer , gas, wear and tear on your truck, corn, feeder and blinds........
I think he got out a lot cheaper

Sorry. Just don't get buying a deer that anyone could buy, as far as number of days hunting sorry bout their bad luck, haven't always been able tu hunt like that but still didn't go buy one, I guess my point is to each his own but a fenced deer don't mean as much!

I've never shot a book-type deer and probably never will. But if I ever do, I won't be posting any pics here.
Just have no need to hear all the "if-you-didn't-shoot-the-deer-my-way-I-it's-not-worth-much" comments.

Shoot it outside a high fence, impressive now matter how you got it, shoot it in captivity it just don't mean much, that's all I am saying!

i've shot deer on places that did not have a fence, under a high fence, dosen't matter, what matters is the hunt. i've hunted low fence places that were gimme's,tagged out in hours. i've been hunting one buck on my place for 3 weeks and only seen him once. now which one is more of a challenge?
by that logic a deer shot from a helicopeter or poached out of a truck on a low fence place is somehow more sporting that a deer that was shot on a high fence
hale ranch is a awesome place, some great bucks come off of there every year. your not goin to find a whole lotta low fence in south texas any more. don't knock a guy for shooting a awesome deer.

I don't think that way tx, poaching don't count, jealous my azz, I hunt my azz off and I haven taken larger bucks so don't give me that chit! A penned deer is what it is, you want to take in a fence by all means go ahead, didn't say the deer was a pos, just would mean more out of the pen!

No jealousy on my part! I honestly would not do a high fence hunt if it was given to me for free! But I understand that not everyone wants to do it my way! I just feel that a 150" free range buck is far more impressive than a 180" captive deer! Just my opinion!

i am not goin to argue that alot of animals taken in texas are for the most part tame.
but i know that the hale ranch deer are not that way.

I only hunt deer by waiting in a tree over a scrape. When a buck shows, I jump out of the tree with a 10" Bowie knife and stab him. I have no interest in taking advange of a deer by shooting it...rifle, bow, or ML. Just don't seem sporting to me. JMO

they are in captivity don't give a dam how big the pen is, looks to me like it wasn't that difficult spend a weekend kill a couple nice deer, great, I prefer to earn mine where you can be proud of it, not just show off a deer you bought and paid sales tax on.
