I have been shopping AR's and it just seems they are beginning to lose their popularity. Probably because everyone has one or two.

The prices are beginning to fall like ammo prices.

FUNALLY!!!

During the panic prices rose dramatically which stimulated more production, and now the market is pretty much saturated with available product which in turn has driven prices back down...a perfect example of supply and demand in action.

There are lots of them out there, and prices do seem to be coming down.

Until the next scare.

I've lost interest in them, have moved on to other things.

Kind regards, charlesb

Lots of specials, free shipping and reduced prices on AR parts also. On Labor Day AIM Surplus had generic lowers for $39.00 and Bushmaster lowers for $49.00. Lots of competition in the market and sales are slowing down.

I read somewhere that background checks for firearm purchases are off 50% from last year. The panic is over.

Cheap AR's stay cheap. High end stays high end. Wilson combats, noveskes, JP's, Larues...they'll always cost a fat chunk of dinero.

So what happened a few years ago when folks were selling $500 AR's for 2-3 times what they paid? The rest are always stupidly priced, a subject I'm not getting into again, even though I sell them...

Everything is down right now, not just ARs, check all the boards out, eBay completed listings, gunbroker completed listings, etc, lots of decent deals just sitting there. Only things that are moving are pieces priced to where someone else thinks they're going to make some money.

Supply is the highest it's ever been. Demand is still somewhat high, but supply has risen faster. And a few of us have all the ARs' we need. At least, that's what I tell myself, until I just have to build another AR...

But seriously, there are some great Ar builders and component manufacturers around. The caliber choice is also good, with great 308/6.8/300bo/7.62x39 ARs being easy to build. 10yrs ago, my safe was full of bolt rifles. Now, aside from a couple bigger caliber bolts, it's mostly full of ARs. Above pic is some, but not all of them. I look at the AR platform as being more an action, than a weapon. It's a semi-auto rifle, and an accurate one at that. still a few more to build... wink

Also, went into Cabelas this weekend and scored a couple bricks of 22, along with a bunch of good powder (e.g. Varget). SO,m the panic is coming to an end.... 22 and powder were the last holdouts. This, until the next idiot takes a gun into a school.

I dont think they are losing popularity at all. If anything popularity continues to grow.

Market is saturated. Demand is down because everybody has one now. Even the high-end guns are coming down, I've seen several of them down $400-500. That's significant.

I guess if you look at prices coming down from the over inflated panic prices then yeah, maybe they are down to pre panic prices but still not what I'd call bargin basement prices. Post a link to those $400 AR's.

I believe he meant prices fell $400-$500 not that they are $400. I did get an ad for $499 VEPR of your choice recently (don't think the shotguns were available at that price).

I've posted a couple deals in the past from promotion emails I've gotten with AR15's being around $450ish.

they are more popular than they have ever been, price falls because panic is slackening and there are more being made...

Also people are learning that they are just tools, no different than any other gun...

I never bought into the craze. When the prices were climbing higher & higher, I realized I was smart not to jump on the bandwagon. To date, I still do not own a "traditional" AR rifle. I carried one in the military and just could never get used to the utilitarian feel, construction, & aesthetic. Just something about them never appealed to me.

Now that the prices are coming down I may add one to the collection just to have one. It will have to be a really good deal though as I don't need it and can't imagine I would use it often. But, like fire extinguishers, it never hurts to have one around.

Ive told this before but when CTD went sky high I had to go in and check it out. All the high price stories were true.

But I watched a dude pay for about 10-12 boxes of each .45 ACP, 9mm and 556. It was near $1500
