I bought an AR 6.5 CM from a brother THF member...I really like it and have shot it out to 400 yds but it's got a 4.5 timney trigger in it and I like all my triggers at 2.5-3 lbs and real crisp and there aren't any adjustments on this trigger setup. I really want a new trigger for it. Perhaps if one of you guys want this one I'll be able to justify buying one that I can get to the specs I like.

the mil spec trigger is something you will never want to use again if you shoot someone elses rifle with a nice trigger
do you need it? maybe, maybe not. If you go to the range a few times a year and do not use the rifle that much then you dont need it that badly.
If you do like to shoot a lot then it will definitely make a difference because it will improve your accuracy and there is a noticeable difference between a nice trigger and the milspec trigger.
Most of the aftermarket triggers like Timney, gieselle and others will be a great improvement over stock and you will most likely be happy with any of them
I personally have a gieselle and it is very nice in my AR. Do I need it? NO!! but it sure is nice to have and since my AR was given to me with a gieselle then I cant complain! Everytime I shoot an AR with a milspec trigger it feels terrible compared to mine. But had I never shot a nice trigger I would have never known.
SO it is all relative to whether you really need it or not.

First of all, when it comes to rifles the answer is a resounding yes. To me it don't matter whether it's a bolt gun or ar's. I have a cmc single stage.
Second, has anyone had any experience with this trigger made by ALG? It seems really cheap and wondering if it's a noticeable improvement. I have an ALG ACT with JP springs in my M4. It was a substantial improvement over the stock trigger. It does not compare to the top-of-the-line triggers, but neither does its price. I think that they are great niche fillers when the stock trigger is not acceptable and neither is paying $175+++. I would not hesitate to buy another and highly recommend them to folks looking to fill the niche mentioned above.

I have a Remington R-15 in .223 that I set up for pig hunting at night, have a Pulsar N-750 on it and can cover a 3 shot group with a quarter at 100 yrds. BUT, the trigger is awful. I hate it. Looong creep and measured the pull at 13lbs!! Had to get used to the trigger to be able to shoot accurately with it. Put that gun in the hands of someone that is not used to it and there are misses or bad shots. Next week getting a Geissele trigger put in, should be about 3 lbs when done. Looking forward to trying it out. Never used a Geissele, but about to.

I have now or have extensively used Jard, Timney,Chip McCormick(CMC)..(Note made here in Texas)Geissele,American Gold,Rock River NM,Hyper-Fire.
All were good although the Jard and the Timney both at some point quit on me but it just a matter of tightening and tweaking and they went right back to working fine. Rock River IF you like the two stage is best for dollar spent and if you want better go Geissele no doubt IMO. Single stage I lean a little toward the CMC as they are made here and priced competitively and are very nice solid triggers but just installed two Hyper-Fire's that may change my opinion.

My Savage bolt action has a pretty decent accu-trigger. I came to like it a lot.
My two AR15 and my Sig 716 (that I sold yesterday) only had milspec triggers. They were pretty rough.
As part of my Sig sell, the buyer traded me a Geissele SSA. I just installed it last night, but after a few snap-caps; I can really tell a difference. It will go to the range next Saturday.

This AR trigger guide might help those having a problem deciding on which trigger to get: http://www.recoilweb.com/ar15triggerguide/
