Conditions and counts have been so pitiful the last couple of years that we haven't hunted quail in Texas. This year sounds much more promising.
How many of you guys have hunts on your calendar?

I do. I always plan a trip to SD or KS. I'll go again this year but I plan on hunting more in Texas as well. It'd be great to be able to go and find 5 or 6 coveys in 2 days, that's all I'm asking!

As much poor mouthing as my blues endure, it's really nice to be able to hunt each and every year. I've been in Big Lake since 2004. Haven't missed a year of being able to have really good hunting.
Yes, some years it's exceptional, some years it's just good.
This year is shaping up to be exceptional. I have plenty of hunts planned.

Deep, deep, south Texas here and I have a hunt scheduled for the opening day at a ranch in San Manuel in Hidalgo county. Have two other possibilities before deer season begins as I don't like to hunt quail during deer season. Have had lots of rain and looks very promising!

I'll be hunting them as I have every year. Last year we were able to find 19-20 coveys in a day but we covered a lot of ground. This year is looking very good. I was just out there dove hunting and happened upon multiple coveys, some having nearly 30 birds in a covey.
Yeah, don't listen to me. I'm just an idiot.
Lol. Duckbill that was funny! The dude up top has already taken lots of bone before this deer, both mule and whitetail.

I no longer have a lease. I'll be hunting with my friend ET as much as he will have me. I also have a new neighbor who has some quail on his dads ranch and no bird dogs. We plan to hunt that a few times. Looks like a great year coming up.

We usually have an invite out around Cottle County and then the lease north of there, up around Wheeler County. Reports are very favorable this year, so we're anticipating good things.
Just like gettin' out with the boys and the dogs...

We'll be hunting Oklahoma again, been getting some great reports.
Haven't had it in years but never spit any out. I am a sucker for happy endings and strapped cowboys.

I plan to go as often as possible, and wherever I can. When I can't go, I have a good friend that will take my dog when he goes. I've never hunted north Texas, but I'd like to for a few days this season, if I can locate someplace to go, there.

As much as possible, including this weekend! Really want to try a week or so in Oklahoma. Big Bend in February and hopefully talk the wife into Arizona.

Is anyone headed for Chaparral this weekend? About seven of us are. I've never been down there before, but a couple of the other guys have. Looking forward to it.

I have a few trips planned early in the season, and may even make it over to western LA this year, I know a couple of their WMA's have some quail.
