I recently purchased a ranch and these auodads are on it. I personally am not really wild about auodads so I'm wanting to sell or trade them to get some axis. I have at least ten of them of assorted sizes. I will attempt to add pics to this post. My place is high fenced so they aren't going anywhere. My questions are: What are they worth? What's the best way to capture them? If anybody is interested in purchasing them or trading for some axis let me know. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

They are a terrible animal to have on your ranch and will create great problems for your future. I will bring a friend to help rid you of these vermin. Where are you located at.

I work hard, drink a little and hunt when I can.

Probably the best way to capture them is with a drop net.
I don't do it but I know plenty of people that can handle that for you. I do have some axis I could sell you but you might get a better deal with the person that is doing the trapping for you.

Other than that, if you want a few hunted off, I can handle that as well. Give me a call or email. In the least I can put you in touch with some good trappers.

Thanks everybody for your advice. The place is near Junction. Curtis, I may contact you to pick your brain. It's gonna be a month or so before I get serious about getting rid of the nasty beasts. I'm on the MLD program and don't wanna do anything right now to disturb my deer hunters. It doesn't sound like it's gonna be hard to find some axis. Seems like they are for sale everywhere. The hard part is gonna be catching and finding a new home for these auodads.

I had the great misfortune of participating in an auodad capture in high school down near Camp Wood. This place was high fenced and the old man that owned the place asked us if we'd help him catch the suckers. Heck yes said we strapping young high school lads. He'd built a trap about 50 yards wide up against the highfence with a big mesh gate. He had a pilot buddy run them down the fence in a one man helicopter and into the trap. We swung the gate on them. Then we thought our job was done. Oh no!!! The old timer pulls up with a 30' goose neck and we're asked to help him load them. That's when all hell broke loose. I've never been kicked, stampeded, run over, stepped on, or butted so many times in my life! There were 14 in all. Those things put a whoopin on us. Roped and loaded them one at a time. Sell some cheap hunts thats the easiest way to get rid of them!

I've got a trailer and a couple teenagers I'll put on them... lol... But seriously... I helped a young lady get rid of some a few years back. They tend to stay together unless they are big billies (24-30"). I would enjoy taking some off your hands. Meat is good... Just remember their bellies go all the way up into their chest... I made that mistake a couple of times... Some say they are tough to kill but all of mine dropped quickly with a .270... anyway... JMTC's

We have some on our lease out in Llano, we've killed four or five off of the place, they make some of the better sausage I've eaten. My dad got the one he shot mounted, the biggest taken to date, and their chihuaha wouldn't come into the living room when it was on the wall, had to move it out into the shop, kinda makes you wonder if that really is evil glowing in their eyes, dogs can sense those things. ha.
