Can up to Montana a little early to run in the Pre-Trial before the big show. Pretty happy with my little Brittany for placing 2nd on Sunday. He beat out some pretty good dogs. For the last 2 days we have been practicing and he seems to really like the conditions.

I think that we are ready.

Congratulations! It can be even more fun if you run two days and judge one. You do not have to be a national judge to judge in the pre-trials. Get qualified this fall.

Update from the big show.

Got eliminated on 1st day. Both dogs had a 2/2 and we lost by 3 pts. It is what I dislike about NSTRA when both dogs make the same finds and retrieves, it just comes down to subjective judging. Not saying any judge made a bad call or that I got robbed. One judge my score differently than your brace mates judge and that puts you at an advantage or disadvantage.

Would never want to be a judge for that reason.

At the end of the day it was 100% my fault. Was up 2/2 to 1/1 with 3 min to go. I should had stayed with the other dog and got my back for the win, rookie mistake I'll not make again.

Was a great adventure and the Big Sky club were great host.

It was tough. Looks like the 70 on your first find killed you. Don't give up on judging. It can be a lot of fun.

It was a beat your brace mate format and he was braced against a professional handler. Plus, Zeta is a great dog. I've seen her score in the 90s on coverage several times. The first sentence on coverage in the Judging Guidelines is, "We're looking for a fast snappy dog." Zeta has that to spare.
