1st limit of the season. After 40 years of dove hunting I finally shot my 1st whitewing.

All in all we had a great day. Limits weren't the priority as we had 4 kiddos shooting. We had two 13 year old young ladies and another woman on their first hunts. Everyone got dove. Ended up around 100 birds for 11 shooters.

My 9 yo got his limit with 30 shells with his 410. He's really gotten the hang of the wing shooting.




My youngest decided he was switching to the pump 20. He started 5/5. I think I just lost my pump.


Saw a lotta white wings and nothing like an old fixed full over mod for shooting high passing whitewings.

Johnson county checking in. found 14.. hit a limit... grrrrr need to bite the bullet and train a dog.... Now I got the bug to go and can't till Saturday.... stupid work

4 man limit plus 8 'bonus' pigeons by 8:30 am! Maverick was not ready.. won't make that same mistake for the duck opener. The 4 of us burned through about a case of shells.

Daisy's 7th Opening day dove hunt. We always celebrate her birthday September 1st. (She'll be 7 on on Thursday, Sept 4th)
Missed the morning hunt and I only got 6 but Daisy got to retrieve about a dozen.

Covey's first dove hunt. 5 shooters, 60 birds. Covey made 23 retrieves on the day (obviously, 15 for me and 8 for others)

Well, just as I suspected...it was stupid for me to look at this post, or any of the dove hunting posts for that matter!!! I missed opening day as I did not was to make the trip home for only one day of hunting. I head home Thursday night and will be in the field Friday, Saturday, and Sunday this weekend. I hope y'all left some birds for me!

Great post though. It looks like a lot of people had a good start to the season, thanks for all the pics! And, kudos to all the parents getting the kiddos in the field!!!

Had a great hunt! 3 guns 3 limits. Suede retrieved just about every bird. Had a great time!

That Cow should be a signal to dove to stay away we passed it ourselves on our way to Adams at Coleman and sons we passed a lot of guys hunting along the way as well that thing should tip them off lots of Dove killed out that way! We had an amazing time with the reasonable cost we didn't have enough hunters for the size of the sunflowers A lot of birds were able to find gaps get in feed and out the way they came. I know he still has spots for the first real weekend if anyone has interest it's a great time for the family. I posted his number as well in Land an leases (well here but mods moved it). Great pics by all great to see the kids in the field. Here are some of ours just missed a limit as I tried the gopro on the barrle at first really messed with swing speed. Did finally get some really good video. I would have had a limit by 8 if I would not have been so intent on video. I got 11 minutes that I fired 15 rounds and never caught a feather that got deleted and at that point the camera came off LOL

Me and the wife hunted together and got my first limit in about 5 years. I used my S&W 1000 marking its 36 opening day. My wife enjoyed the action also and downed her first two birds

Got 48 birds total. Me and 2 friends limited. Wife shot 3 on her first hunt and she's already wanting to go again.

No, that bull is further west than Dan. We hunted Haskell, and that bull is on the north side of 380 just east of Haskell. And you can see it from miles away, both directions. They put it in the perfect spot.
