It looks as though I'll be doing a lot of duck hunting on bare ground with no cover this season, so I'm looking to get a layout blind. Halfway decent ones from Cabelas, etc run about $200 at a minimum. Are there any better deals out there from more obscure dealers that don't pop up in a google search?

Also checkout: www.wingsupply.com in the "blinds" section.
They've got great deals on Drake stuff right now also.

Since you said hunting on bare ground, take note some of those layout blinds can have a pretty tall profile and frames that give them sharp edges that cast shadows that really stick out if your truly on bare ground. Much of my hunting is on bare ground or mud and a long walk or paddle, so I prefer as low of a profile as possible and as less weight as possible. Depending on where I am I use a blanket layout blind or a Goosebuster LP. The goose buster has a set up height of 12 inches and less framework than most. There is a tradeoff with comfort for low profile, so If your hunting fields with stubble or banks with some cover and you don't have to carry it far, the higher profile framed doors and more room would be more comfortable. I think that finisher was a good half a foot taller than my goosebuster, but it may be adjustable. It has a cult following for sure.

Thanks to everyone for the leads. You're right that for my situation (low lake levels exposing lots of bare ground), minimizing profile is a top priority.

The Avery Power Hunter is pretty hard to beat in regard to price, very light weight, folds up like a backpack (room for a blind bag inside...), fast set-up, and low profile.

I have hunted out of a bunch of them, but the finisher is my favorite. Fast set up and take down, roomy, comfortable, low profile… What more can you ask for?
