Another newb question. I see some shotguns have a camo look to them. when it comes to resale, does that hurt the value at all? (ie- less desirable) Do they sell many of the camo guns or not? Looks pretty cool, but not sure if its best to stay with the traditional look. Will fade or go out of style Black or wood Browning gold or maxus a-5 Then u only have to buy one gun

Looks pretty cool, but not sure if its best to stay with the traditional look. The camo finished guns are typically more corrosion resistant than the black, or the blued barreled guns. If you like the camo look, go for it. I bought my son the camo Beretta A300 Outlander and bought myself one with walnut stock. He likes his better, I prefer mine... personal preference.

If the OP is concerned about camo he could get a black synthetic stock and put a camo wrap on it for $40. Camo on a gun will not hurt resale at all. In fact, it wouldn't be smart to buy a wood stocked gun for duck hunting unless you never get near the water. If you want a tried and true shotty get a Beretta 390 or Browning Silver Hunter 12 gauge for ducks...those two are my favorites for semis. I would never use a 12 gauge for dove, I prefer the 28 gauge but shells are expensive. I would get a 20 gauge for dove if I were you.

Any semi auto gun over about $800 is gonna be a good one, only one I would hesitate to get in that price range would be the versa max but apparently they've redone it since the first ones had so many problems. There's good autos in the $500-$700 range too, but I think when you get down into that price range you get a lot more lemons.
I shoot an SX3 and it's the best gun in the world...ever

I love my old Browning A-5 Magnum! If I had a dollar for every duck, goose, turkey I've taken with it I'd be a happier man.

IMHO, camo is overrated. Especially on guns. Although camo guns do not have a lower resale value, they do have a smaller market of buyers. For instance, I would never buy a camo gun and dont know anyone in my family that would.

its hard to do a poll on a dove/duck gun....really the two don't overlap.
what I would shoot for dove and what I would shoot if I were a hard core duck hunter, are two different things

One stop shop for any and all hunting is my Cynergy. This is just my preference Of course there are several shotguns that will do the trick. Browning, Benelli, Beretta, 870, etc etc

Browning, Benelli, Beretta, 870, etc etc most people buy several different rifles to do the same thing (shoot deer over a feeder), but when it comes to wingshooting, they expect one shotgun to do it all. If I'm shooting mourning doves coming into a tank, or over a mojo, a 20 Gauge O/U or a semi-auto is perfect. If I'm shooting at large flocks of white wings, I much prefer a semi-auto. quail hunting, I prefer a SXS or a O/U. Duck hunting, I prefer a heavy duty semi-auto 12 gauge. I see people lugging their heavy benelli 12 gauges into the dove field and if they would put it down and pick up a nice, light 20 gauge benelli, Beretta, Franchi or browning auto, I bet they they would enjoy their wingshooting more

Beretta Outlander black synthetic. I have 1 in wood and will be picking one up in black for duck season.
Best gun in the price range IMO.
I have shot Benellis and the Beretta is much softer kicking especially with duck loads.
