Yep and let one of the kiddos shoot it if it needs to go

No. I'd wait to see how he develops during the next year or two.

As much as I like to cull grin you have to know what the deer on your lease or land will do with age and nutrition or lack of it. His life was saved by the AR's.
Here is a buck from last year and even though it rained 26"+ it was very dry from mid Feb till late May. I know he was finally eating out of a protein feeder in January of this year. It did not rain much from Dec of 2012 till first week of May (little over 3") but he was eating protein daily.
Notice the notch in the top and lower portion of his left ear. I was looking through pics today from the last couple of years and saw the notch.

I have quite a few pics of this buck and he comes to water at the house and never noticed the notch. He was not the buck I would have expected to be the 6 point from last year. These pics are from early August of this year.

Can't think that a person didn't notch that ear. Someone's pet?

Not that I know of. I seem to have a lot of bucks and does that have them for some reason. Lot of Lime Prickly Ash grows in the area and it has wicked hooked thorns. Could be cutting ears as they run thru it. Bucks I can understand getting it during the rut but some show up from the fall season pics without a cut or notch only to have one when I start taking pics now.

A different buck from last year.
Here is the buck on 12-19-2013

Same buck on 12-31-2013. He also had a smaller notch in the bottom of his right ear.

If he's low fence you'd best shoot him before the neighbor does! popcorn

Once i learned that i didn't "NEED" to kill something, and that if i did kill something all the fun stopped and work began, i was a much better hunter.
