looking for advice here. I've been doing some yote and bobcat hunting & have gotten hooked. I would like to spend my $100.00 gander mnt. gift card on some predator hunting equipment & was wondering what you guys would recommend. I hunt lease roads & powerline easements in North East Texas (cass co.) mostly 'yote, but would really like to take a cat. I already have some calls so I am set there. I have a couple of spot lights, but was thinking about getting the primos 100yrd or 250yrd scope light. Any one use one of these & have an opinion on it? If not that light what would you recommend in the 100.00 price range?

Better than trying to use a gun light is having a second hunter with you. One for the light and calling, another to shoot. You can also hunt daylight. I love day hunting. Make sure you use full camo, face and gloves. Be absolutely still.

If you really want to spend your money on a light, get LightForce. I don't think they sell that at Gander Mountain though.

I would get some good shooting sticks such as Predator Sniper Sticks and some good camo.

I'm not sure what else to tell you. Maybe get a good video and some ammo? I'm not sure what all you have and how much day hunting you do. Sorry I'm not much help.

can you see at 250 yds at night in east Tx. even in Right of way. I agree with Clean on the second hunter. if you don't have one as I don't most of the time I use a light like you will find on a 4 wheeler. one you can put on a poll and it will hold it. you can lossen the handle so it can be moved very easly. put the light in front about 2 feet but to one side where you can reach it with out moving, for me its the right. you do not want any thing coming in front of the light. use a 12v 7 amp hr rechargeable battery it should last 3 to 4 hours depending on your light. if you are going to hunt all night you may need 2. that is if you are hunting on foot. you will need to make sheild for the light and put a red cover over it. You do not need a BRIGHT light at night. you will be able to see the eyes. the pole will hold the light and let you work the weapon. I use a small dim light mounted on a old hard had. I use a old plastic jar with a red lens on it. its hard to find factory made stuff

just my .2

I love day hunting with a decoy. They will usually stay focused in on that decoy. I had a yote circling my decoy one afternoon, and ended up bustin him at about 10 yards with the shotgun, never seen it comming!

Clean Kill was right about the full camo, its a must.

I am only able to hunt with a buddy about 10% of the time. I have good camo and a couple of shooting sticks - so I have that covered. Most of my predator hunting will be done at night or very low light times, thats why I was leaning towards the scope light. I would like to be less dependent on other people so I could hunt more often.

spend that money on steel, and build yourself a one man rig since you do most of your hunting at night and without a partner.

Quiver Kritter decoy by edge expedite would be the best $20 you ever spent. Inexpensive little decoy that works great in the daytime and easy to haul around.

since they dont sell huntin buddies there either i would go with the scope light. i use mine whether i am by myself or with some one else. not sure of the model but buy a good one with a red lens attachment. another plus is a scope with a lighted reticle. it eliminates all of the lost crosshairs when hunting at night.

Not to cause trouble, but i Disagree with the partner method of varmit hunting. While I do generally have a budy go with me, its is for the sole purpose of having another shooter and two lights working. Evertime i try to use a light man and a shooter, there is always problem witht he angle of the reflection of eyes and one person can see eyes and the other cant, it makes for a hard time getting the shot off. So i suggest learning to shoot while hoding the light or using a scope light like you are considering wgonfan. A buddy uses one of those lights and he loves it. I have not used them personally, but have heard good things abou them. Not trying to step on any toes, just sharing my experiences.

I've never had that happen. Just stay close to the light man. How far do you stay from him? Besides, you really shouldn't be shooting unless you have determined exactly what it is, and you can only do that by seeing the animal.

+1 I ALWAYS use gun mounted lights.

What is the best gun mounted light?? I had one that stunk. I had to carry around a battery pack and had cords running everywhere.

I use LiteForce. Without a doubt the best just not the cheapest. You can either plug into your truck or run off of a battery pack. I run mine off a 12 volt deer feeder battery when I'm out looking for a critter I've shot. Works great
