In your opening post you mentioned you were new to hunting. Might just need some good old time practice. Also, when you state "way off the mark", many rifles do not shoot to the same POI with different ammo. welcome

I defiantly need practice. No doubt. What I was trying to say the times I've been to range I grouped pretty similarly. With core lokt I was way off of my norm. It was an outlier, even with my novice experience. But I'll be going to range a lot. I've already learned a lot here.

When I bought my .270 I tried 130 grain Core-Lokts and they were so accurate I never looked back. I handload now but still buy Core-Lokt ammo for my .270 and use it. It shoots sub-moa so what's the need?

That's cool. Couple of my buddies swear by it. It appears federal is my guns favorite. I shot 130 grn nosler ballistic tip today and did fairly well. I need more practice at range tho. I also shot blue box fed on another trip and was pleased with results. Hey I heard some guide services don't allow ballistic tips on their property. Anyone else heard of this?

Mebbe don't allow BT's for some strange reason, and could ID them by caliber specific colored tips...but lots of ammo makers today use Delrin tips. I'd put Nosler AB's against anybody's tipped bullet for penetration though, and IMO is better than the Hornady stuff for sure...prolly get FJG & Chad to squeal on that though. aim

Generally shoot 130 grain Rem Core-Lokt. When lived in New Mexico, shot 150 grain spritzer for elk and mule deer. Since now hunt family land, I also take a box of Rem managed recoil ammo, 117 grain. Point of impact is close enough to 130 gr for grandkids and ladies to do rib shots. Hate to see anyone shooting the 22 center fires at deer when the 243 even now has managed recoil round.

Where do you get these at? I've only seen the 130 ttsx

Loading down a .243 is like putting a rev limiter on a 4 banger

Lol sold out.. they go quick I use to order them ahead of time... best factory round iv shot out of a .270win by a long shot...

Shot all three of these pigs with it at 100-200yrds dead shoulder and it passed through the plates like it was nothing and did serious damage when it did

Went back to range again and shot another box of federal blue box soft points and it's now my go to 270 round. Thanks for the input. Learned some things.

My rifle has always been very accurate with Winchester 130 gr Power Point, which is about the least expensive ammo you can buy for a 270. I've never had a whitetail or axis deer run off. They drop where they stand if you hit them in the lungs or through the shoulders. No need for premium ammo for whitetails with a 270, but no harm in it either.

Same with mine, last trip to the range had three power points make touching holes on target exactly 1.5" high and dead center-had three boxes of same lot, don't see any point in changing anything till I run out. It used to be $12/box, seems to have gone up 50% in last year.

I can't believe nobody has mentioned the Fusions yet. They shoot great out of my old Winchester M70. 2cents
